Persuasive Essay On Self Esteem
Although self–esteem is something everyone has, it can sometimes be difficult to realize your worth. There are many tools that can raise your awareness of your self–esteem, and journaling is just one of them. Not only can journaling raise your self–esteem, but it can improve your overall physical and mental health (ref #5). On the surface, journaling is a relatively simple concept. You find a bound book you like, maybe something with a nice picture on the front, and either line or unlined paper on the inside, whichever you prefer. Then get a quality writing pen and start putting words on paper. While it seems simple enough sometimes people, especially those with low self–esteem, can turn journaling into a self–deprecating exercise, or they may have trouble moving the thoughts in their head to the page in their hands. In any event, there are a few simple guidelines that should be followed to make journaling effective in uncovering your self–esteem. First is to ensure that your journal remains private. You are the only one that is ever going to read it so do not be afraid to write as you see fit. No one is grading you on punctuation, spelling, or sentence structure so do not get caught up in the formality of writing. You can even add pictures or doodles on your pages if it helps you express your feelings. The other guideline to follow is that you are not allowed to bash yourself with negative writings. It is acceptable to write about your bad day or the mistake you made at work, however, do not bash yourself with comments such as "I am so stupid" or "I am too ugly". If these journal entries show up occasionally, especially at the start of your writing journey, it is acceptable. Just move on and do not beat yourself up over it, but keep at it and try to improve over time. Seek to find something good about yourself every day, no matter how small, because every positive thought counts. If you find yourself struggling to figure out what to write some days, there are several prompts that can get your thoughts moving in the right direction. If today was a relatively good day, you might write about why you enjoyed your day or things you are grateful for in your life. Conversely, if you had a particularly rough day
Persuasive Essays : Persuasive Essay
When I began this class, I loved to write persuasive essays. I loved to write about my own opinions and I was quite good at convincing people to agree with my stand points. To convince others to agree on my point of view was an extraordinary feeling. I am very good at getting my point across and giving my reasons on why I feel the way I do about a certain situation. I loved writing persuasive essays because I love to read them as well. I love how persuasive essays have a call–to–action; giving the readers a chance to do something about the situation. I am all for protest and rights for others, if I believe someone is wrong I will stand my ground and prove that it is wrong. I loved to write persuasive essays because, I am a persuasive person in life. My opinions matter just as much as everyone else. Writing persuasive essays, is like writing from the soul. To be able to put my all into a piece and show why it means so much to me. By taking this class, I have come to enjoy the research paper. I feel now as I writer I still love persuasive writing; just know I include research to help strengthen my opinions. I am an organized writer as well as a descriptive writer, being able to write things in logical order and having things well explained for a reader. I now understand the meaning and how to write about things I may not always agree with. Being able to describe my writing, giving more detail is something taking this class has taught me. Giving my readers a better visual is
Only allowing a President two terms is in itself very demeaning. Regardless of their effect and influence, their days are inevitably numbered. History shows that previous Presidents have had very effective years towards the end of the first term. The following term being terrible due to the microscope challenging them daily. All ideas or promises presented during each campaign cannot be accomplished in four calendar years, let alone the four gained after re–election. The president's success lies in the society of America. Many people feel that challenging our founding fathers and the amendment is disrespectful or unnecessary, but the current way has shown a negative outcome for previous Presidents. If future Presidential candidates had no limit, but a stipulation before returning to the office after the first two terms, we as American citizens would have an effective country. The effectiveness of a President after his second term is massively impaired. In light of the fact that he cannot run again, respect and obedience for the President declines drastically. The limit creates a mindset that challenges the President's standpoint and views. Limits open up an overload of criticism that wouldn't be present if Presidential candidates were allowed another 4 years to continue his vision. Despite the fact Presidents have always been limited to 8 years in office, the limit should be raised to allow candidates access to their full potential. Presidential candidates are basically on
Persuasive Essay About Friend
Ok, Tee I"m going, to be honest, I don 't really know what to say. I 'm going through a weird change in my life right now, and I don 't want us having our arguments to always be a problem. If I do come off rude, I ask for your forgiveness in advance.
I think the way I want to start this is by asking what is a friend. The word "Friend" is used in many different ways such as;
"a supporter or sympathizer"
"a person known well to another and regarded with liking, affection"
"a person whom one knows well and is fond of"
To me, a friend is someone that should be a part of your family as if he or she was your brother/sister. You might not be connected by blood, however, I do believe you should be connected with the spirit. For the longest...show more content...
Then lastly, I was thinking about life with your friends what are the limits of your life with the friends to even including death. It 's natural when someone has a gun to a family or a friend you would choose family. However, the choice should be as hard as if you have your family and you have to choose between a brother or a sister.
What does my Ramblings have to do with me and you?
I view you the way I view friendship, you do these things as if you were like a brother to me. Such as when I need someone to talk to and I don 't think they would understand you do, or if I need someone to play with or if I 'm doing a project such as fixing or cleaning a game you help me, when I want to talk to someone about what interest me you are there. Whenever you do something that hurt me or you tell I 'm sad you try your best to fix what you did or make me feel better.
Something I won 't forget you told me I think it was our first fight you told me "it doesn 't sit well with me when a friend is hurt, especially by your own words" It shows me you do care about me if you did not you would never say that to me. Pretty much every time me and you have a problem you stick it out with me and I appreciate that. Even with the thing that happened you still tried to
Persuasive Essay On My Writing Style
Among words on paper, one hardly finds oneself to question their particular style or preferences in writing. I as a writer can tell you how the basis of my "madness" works, but who are we joking, that would just be utterly extensive and boring. Within the different types of genres one person can write about, I find persuasive, argumentative, and research/informational writings to be the most appealing. I tend to be a very opinionative person, meaning that if I hear any of some sort of injustice or intriguing thought said, don't think twice of hearing my stance on that topic. Therefore, especially with persuasive essays, I will always find my pen promptly trying to catch up, while my thoughts keep rushing in, in order to get on paper. It's a formative writing piece, that I can easily state my claim and through using accurate information, will no longer be an assignment, more or less it will turn into a conversation between my writing and my thoughts. Nevertheless, when it comes to...show more content...
I don't know if not being an imaginative individual may be at fault, but ever since I pick up my first writing utensil I was not a fan of writing on the spot. When I always hear the dreadful words coming from an English teacher, "Well class, today we will be having a free–write", my heart drops. Fear, of the possibility of being the last individual writing, encountering multiple issues from knowing what to write about to what shall be the focus of the story. Perhaps, my inability of writing any creative piece can be layback to the constant issue of knowing where and how to start and finish. Nonetheless, moving away from genres, my ultimate weakness would have to be mechanics. I mean, I understand the basics of noun, verb, punctuation, and so forth, but I regularly find myself re–reading my writing pieces over and over and still finding everlasting
Persuasive Essay On Field Trips
Spending money always seems like it is a burden, unless you're splurging on yourself buying that handbag that you have always wanted, or the belt that cost $500. When we spend it on field trips for kids to be able to get a hands on experience rather than just sit in a boring classroom, well that's a completely different story. If that's the case, then we should feel great about spending the money on our kids, it's going towards a excellent cause, one that has the potential to change a child's perspective on learning. Many kids feel that the classroom is extremely boring, too bland for their taste. As a result, their motivation starts to drop as well as their grades, interest, and even will to attend school. Field trips have the...show more content...
The free admission idea is a breakthrough due to the possibility that the child's parents lack the resources to take him/her to a museum, but the school and the museum can give the child this experience through education. I reminisce back to 5th grade, the start of the end of elementary. The feeling of desperation hit me, I felt aggravated and perplexed because school was just plain boring. My eyes and ears had opened up, and I felt like I had a tiny enlightenment when I had heard that we were attending a field trip to Seaworld, in order to learn about marine biology. Consequently, I ended up paying attention from their, I found school a bit more exhilarating and I started to try harder than what I was before. What field trips did for me can happen to any other kid out there.Furthermore, college trips can also help a high school teenager get a feel for the college life, and help them understand that education is important in today's age. Without this type of insight, teens might feel lost or unsure about what they want to do in life so they end up dropping out or just barely finishing high school. Therefore, this budget really needs to expand for the better of our kids. Even if we spend 100 million dollars on field trips, or just enough for a couple per year, the money used is going to a positive cause. Our
Writing A Persuasive Essay
It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless...show more content...
You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here, this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you finally settle you know it's not your best work and the grade shows. Or you did it last minute, reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point
Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
Climate Change
Not everyone in the world has noticed that the climate has changed throughout the years. The negativity of climate alternation comes from pollution, weather, and temperature changes, which will endanger the earth. However, it's possible that some people in the world are willing to help; people are trying to decrease the chances of climate modification from raising. Even though climate change is very bad for the earth and toward humans, no one can put an end to this problem due to several causes which will affect us. Three different outcomes that surround the topic climate change comes from our human activities, environment changes, and human health issues. These are the reasons why it causes climate changes to create negative effects on the earth.
Greenhouse gases are the reason why climate change has affected the environment for many years. Changes that can happen in the environment could be how cold is the temperature today, how much sunlight is being produced during the day or is there enough clean water. The environment gets affected when "the atmosphere traps the heat radiate into the Earth toward space" (NASA 1). When that happens the environment will change the "impacts on human systems which involve food production, local livelihoods, and health" issues (Environment and Climate Change Canada). Different type of effects that can happen to the earth could be "sea levels, droughts, floods and other extreme weathers, climate change ecosystem and extinction threats" (Greenpeace International 1). Other living things such as insect, bird, or plant will be extinct or will move to different places in the world and this will affect human health issues (National Geographic 1). These issues will cause trouble to the earth's environment, and it's not possible to know when the problems will turn more worst. Ice melting from the Arctic has increased, due to climate change and it will harm the polar bears, seals, and penguins (National Geographic 1). My grandmother has grown vegetables in her backyard, and as the climate changes, this affects the growing process of the food. In the summer when I go outside the temperature has increased from the radiated of the sun shining towards me.

Persuasive Essay On Online Education
Online education is helping many students get a better education. This can be for many reasons. Some reasons could include things like a more flexible schedule. Of course their are some that believe that online schools are not a good option because they do not offer students face to face time with teachers, but online schools can be a great way to educate the children of tomorrow because it allows for students in rural areas to get the same education as somebody in the city and the flexible nature of online school allows students to have more time to be with their family, friends and to do the activities they love.
One of the great things about online education is that it gives students in rural areas the same education as those in large urban areas. This is because of many things but most importantly it is because online systems allow for more courses then a small town would be able to provide (Orgill, Jason, and Douglas Hervey). Having more courses is important because it gives students the opportunity to take deep dives into areas that they are very interested in. This is an opportunity that many students that live in rural areas don't get because there school simply does not have enough students to provide those courses. Giving students in rural areas the same course opportunities as those in urban areas is just one of the reasons online education is so important.
Another great thing about online education is that allows student athletes to have enough time with their families while also putting huge amounts of time into training and school. The reason athletes get the time they need is because at an online school "you work at your own pace" And on your own schedule (Snyder, Tom). I know from personal experience being a student athlete in a brick and mortar school is difficult. You wake up early try and finish your homework, then go directly to school. Then after school you go to training and then more training then maybe you go to the gym and then finally you get home and you are so tired you just fall into bed. This is really tough because you get hardly any time to spend with your family and friend. In an online school system you can do your work wherever you are and whenever you have time. This

Donald Trump has suggested that a contest should be held as to which television network covers him in the most "dishonest, corrupt and or/distorted" way, as he has again labeled many of the outlets "fake news." It is one of some attacks by the president against the press coverage he receives, with the most vitriolic coming back in August when he referred the assembled journalists as "truly dishonest" and "sick people."Mr. Trump also used the term "your favorite president," a moniker he has used recently – that is despite his approval ratings telling a different story."
Literature Review The press is basic to vote based system, and popularity based race is comprehensibly deprived of the press. An open and sensible contest is not only about the prospect of voting and the culture the way to make a selection, yet around a hands–on process where the electorates participate in the open verbal confrontation and provide adequate information on the meetings, approaches, competitors and the verdict process on the situation with a precise aim of settling on sophisticated choices. Besides, the press drives around as a critical watch to popularity founded decisions, defending the frankness in the procedure.
During the 2005 gathering to commemorate World Press Freedom Day worldwide, an affirmation was formed which concentrated on "independent and mixed press are rudimentary for assuring forthrightness,
Essay on Effective Listening
Effective Listening
The ability to listen well is an important tool for understanding others. Sadly, very few people know how to listen well. In fact, most people can think of only one or two good listeners in their lives. Listening is not simply agreeing – it is much more. Good listeners are able to better understand and respond to others, complete assignments accurately, settle disagreements before they escalate, and establish rapport with difficult people.
Listening is often confused with hearing. This serious misconception can lead us to believe that good listening is instinctive. In fact, good listening is an active, sophisticated process – a learned behavior – that demands focus and attention. Listening takes place on...show more content...
Content listening can lead to serious misunderstandings and is especially deceptive because it appears the listener is tuned in.
Superficial Listeners
Superficial listeners are often judging, daydreaming, or rehersing their response this is essentially hearing, not listening. The listener is tuning in and out thinking little of the talker, and mainly listening for a chance to jump in and take over the conversation. People who listen at this level are pretending to listen and are often quiet and passive.
To achieve deep listening, the listener must take on certain responsibilities to help the talker and to ensure that there is agreement about the interpretation and intent of a message. Specifically, the listener must focus on the talker and pay close attention to what is being said. Strive to understand the meaning of the message and respond accordingly. Keep in mind that the response lets the talker know whether or not the message is getting through and allows him or her to adjust the message accordingly.
Listener Responsibilities
Determine the talker's needs during the interaction. At the beginning of a conversation, the talker may be tentative and not say what he or she means. Whether he or she continues often depends on the listener's initial response. Stay neutral and try to listen objectively. Direct, clear communication rarely occurs when information flows one way. Listening blocks are obstacles that interfere with our listening they
Persuasive Speech : Effective Communication
In writing it's important to have an understanding of what you're trying to convey for your audience in addition to how you you will present your ideas. Effective communication extends beyond having well organized writing expressed in complete and coherent sentences. The style, tone and clarity of writing must also be considered, as they are constantly changing relative to the audience. Again, analyzing one's audience and purpose is essential to successful writing. Appropriately, when choosing the most effective language, it is important to consider the document objective as well as the reader. In essence, this idea of effective use of language has been the overarching theme of this online English course. Each writing assignment...show more content...
Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more academic feeling. For example, in the text I often used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the audience and the purpose of the writing.
Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently in various types of writing is the discussion blog post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match the formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the public audience was a class of online students taking a required writing course in the summer, the formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing my concern over the unworthy power of Beyoncé I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the world was blessed with the images of Beyoncé (unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard. Not only is Beyoncé's single lady video one of her most notable hits it begins her what is now a decade long relationship ending spree" (Marquis, 2016 ). The formality
Persuasive Essay
"Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old question: "Do you like
Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out these two semesters

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your
How To Write A Persuasive Essay
Writing essay is one of the things that I used to dislike before. For me, writing an essay was a difficult and boring thing. However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment, "Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me. In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this assignment improves my writing skills a lot. Before, I didn't know that I have to use the transition words in an essay. For me, an essay is constituted by many single paragraphs. However, everything is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph should support theme to make an essay stronger. Also, after Ms. Weller marked this assignment, I learned that using transition words can create a powerful link between my ideas. I really enjoyed it. As I was researching, I also could read other writer's literature. I notice that using the quote or data can make the theme of an essay be stronger and more persuasive. The quote not only can make an essay more cogent but also can make readers agree with writer's thinking. Thus, I've learned to use the quote to make my essay to more

Persuasive Forms of Leadership Paper
Leadership is the most discussed topic when it comes to business. There has been much research into leadership and it the effect it has on the followers. Leadership research has included various attributes that show the difference between leaders and non–leaders and the effect it has on the followers. Leadership is a process using socially acceptable behavior, including personality traits used to inspire individuals to reach a goal or objective. There have been many studies that shown individual characteristics including skills and abilities can predict leader effectiveness. Leaders need to recognize that certain motivators may not always be the best motivators. Considering that some motives may be complex, they are usually a result of some initiative that an individual may have brought about based on their personality or experience. One way to persuade followers or employees is to offer them financial incentives to increase output and profits. However, the consideration of financial incentives should also consider the leaders behavior on the employees which may have influenced the employees to increase output and profits. A transactional leader focuses on tasks and behaviors rather than relationships. Traits and behaviors influence effectiveness of the followers not necessarily the motivating factors associated with the task, such as financial (Derue, 2011). Values of the individual need to be considered when considering which motivators should be used.
Persuasive and Effective Leaders

There are the task–oriented leaders who are effective in scenarios which need structure and often clarification. These leaders are often found to be most effective in crisis type
Ted Talk Essay
When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them, but we can't live without them. Anyone can all look back to a time in our lives where they wish someone could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All Americans have many choices, and it is such a part of our daily lives that we don't even realize it. Barry Schwartz and Sheena Iyengar's TED talks bring up interesting ideas about choice, how people deal with them and their affects. They both state that although choice is good, it can also have negative effects.
