Evaluating Peer Review Comments
Firstly, before I start accepting and rejecting peer review comments, I would like to express my gratitude to the people who took the time to thoroughly review and critique my paper. I thank you for your constructive criticism and for the amount of time you contributed to help me improve this research paper. I thoroughly appreciate your efforts and I look forward to incorporated your comments into my work.
From peer reviewer #1's comments, I accept that I should have written out the full name of S. marcescens the first time I mentioned it. I also accept their comments that I should add a title and key words to my paper, as well as switch the order of the references and appendix. Also, as peer reviewer #1 suggested, I added all of the required elements to my appendix, including the null and alternate hypothesis as well as the interpretation based on the p–value. I also changed my in–text citations so that they are in accordance with the CSE format. I reject the reviewer's comments that my method's section was too detailed because in some other research papers that I have read, the methods section was equally verbose. I also reject the reviewer's comment that I would remove the...show more content...
I also accept the comment that I should have discussed the limitations of my experiment a little bit more extensively in the discussion section of my paper. I do not agree that the introduction of this paper is the best part because after reading the comments of my peer reviewers, I fixed, grammatically, the introduction of this paper. I also don't think that the methods section needs to go into any more detail than it did, because re–reading the paper and peer–review comments, I think this section in appropriately extensive. I agree with my comment that I need to add the alternate and null hypothesis as well as an interpretation of the p–value in my appendix. I incorporated this comment into my
Website Review Essay
After visiting and examining the PBS Web site, I was able to conclude that it is an extremely successful entertainment and educational site. The Web site has won many substantial awards, including the prestigious "Webbie Award" in 1998 and 1999. According to a recent survey, fifty–six percent of users at the PBS Web site are male and sixty percent are between the ages of eighteen and forty–four. Forty–four percent of the Web site users have children and fifty–seven percent make online purchases. (Gallup/Plaw Release: Survey of 40,000 Internet Users. Fall 1998.) The design of the Web site is very bright and appealing to the eye. Its layout is inviting and easy to navigate. Its design is consistent through all pages. There are many...show more content...
Another main section in the PBS Web site is called "TeacherSource." Its articles offer teachers advice on incorporating cable, video, and the Internet into their classrooms and lessons. The "Indie Scene" section concerns independent films and videos. It includes film reviews, a schedule of movies, and interviews with filmmakers. The site has two different news sections, " Online Newshour" and "News & Views." The "Online Newshour" section has up to date objective articles with many photos. It also includes a new section geared towards high school students. The "News & Views" section also deals with up to date news, but in a more subjective way. This section includes opinion articles from a variety of people concerning more controversial news issues. The section also has its own discussion group where users are able to post and reply to many different topics. Other main sections on the PBS site include Adult Learning, history, science, technology, and arts. The Web site also has its own shopping site called "ShopPBS." Here users are able to purchase videos and books about anything from the Olympics to the rainforest. The site offers users to sign up to receive a weekly email newsletter called "PBS Previews." The site also offers television listings for PBS. In addition, there is a section where users can view the annual report of PBS and find out about possible employment with the company. There is also an extensive section where people interested
Peer Review Essay Examples
Without having someone else to look over your work, it is hard to realize what you are doing wrong. When someone else reads your paper, especially having not read it before, they can easily identify your mistakes, whether it be punctuation or spelling errors. I strongly believe that when peer review is taken advantage of and used correctly, peer reviews are extremely helpful, but, unfortunately not everyone takes it serious and gives you the feedback that can really help you fix your essay. I had been rereading my Writing Project 1 essay over Philando Castile for other a week to make sure it was to perfection. It wasn't until my paper went through peer review that I realized my mistakes. For example, one of my first sentences in my essay made absolutely no sense because it was missing one word, but when I had been reading it myself, I had never even noticed that it was missing the word. The sentence had said, "Castile, with his girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, and her four–year–old daughter in the car, was over for a broken brake light" (Straley 1). I had been reading the sentence as if the word,...show more content...
Once again, I had made mistakes I hadn't even noticed before. When my paper went through peer review, and I received feedback, I was told something I had thought I had already done. I was told, "Commas need added in a few spots like after 'In fact, and Still," (Anonymous). Surely when I went back to the essay there were not commas in some important spots, for example, "In fact about a third of students who take out student loans never even graduate and receive their diploma" (Straley 3). Having a peer read your essay, can really help you find your grammatical errors. When we read our own paper, we often read it as if the punctuation is there, even if it is not. When someone else reads it though, they can easily identify these mistakes, especially when it is their first time reading your
Example Of Restaurant Review
For my restaurant review, I picked the restaurant Soulshine Pizza Factory because of its atmosphere. The restaurant was named after a song called "Soulshine" which was written by Warren Haynes and sang by the Allman Brothers. Known for being more than just a songwriter, Warren Haynes would occasionally join the Allman Brothers and other bands in singing the song. Warren Haynes' song had such an influence on many people including the owner of Soulshine who ended up naming the restaurant after the popular song. It was founded in 2001. The restaurant has a lot of history behind its creation; the owner of the restaurant loves pizza and was an Allman brothers fan, a southern rock jam band. He opened the the restaurant, because he wanted to...show more content...
It is a place for a casual lunch and dinner date with your group of friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, or family. Soulshine can also be a place where people can bring their kid's soccer team after practice. In general, Soulshine Pizza Factory is a vibrant and family oriented scene. At Soulshine they also serve desserts and salads. So if someone is all about diet and worried that they cannot eat at Soulshine Pizza Factory because the word pizza is on the restaurant name, there is no need to worry because they have a mixture of healthy dishes that will heighten your taste

Review of English Semester Essay
English 101–60 has taught me many things and has helped me grow and develop my skills as a writer. It has taught me how to think more creatively and use clear concrete details. In the beginning of the semester, our first writing assignment was a narrative journal entry that focused on writing about an uninteresting moment from your life and making it interesting. This was a challenging assignment because it was a broad topic that allowed the writers to take it in any direction. I remember thinking I had no idea what I am going to write about. Once I was able to narrow down the ideas I started writing what a traumatic experience I had six years ago. This was when I underwent the surgical procedure, to remove my gallbladder. My main focus...show more content...
Once I found that topic, I was able to start writing the research paper, My group faced a couple of challenges along the way. One of the biggest challenges we faced was all of us meeting the length requirement because were all still in the beginning stages of the assignment. The workshop group was a new experience for me because I have never worked with that many person, this kind of overwhelmed me because there was so many opinion on one paper. The groups weakness was, our lack of organization. Fortunately, we were able to make this up with all of us being very truthful towards each other and not sugarcoating the revisions we suggested among our papers. We all accomplished the beginning stages of writing our research papers and making sure everyone had their thesis there. Over the semester I have been challenged and intrigued over and over by the content of this course and the professor, who thought I could develop a fairly strong paper if it was not for all my grammatical errors. It has been a very enlightening and enthralling experience that has taught me a new way to write a paper. In high school there was only one way to write and that was it. I think that this class is a great way for students to think out of the box, rather than having to be stuck. It allows them to write more freely about a subject, and I am very thankful for that. I have learned many new skills and improved the skills I already
Online Review Essay
Referrals and recommendations are primary sources of law firm growth, and traditional offline recommendations are still commonplace. However, if lawyers do not pay attention to social media and Google My Business online reviews and testimonials, your firm will remain stagnant while your good standing dwindles. Now is an opportune time to pay attention to the online customers and respond to them. Their word of mouth is paramount to a lawyer's future.
The Review
The approach for online reviews is to create a Google Account to access Google My Business and read reviews customers wrote about you and your firm. With social media sites, search Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus for reviews connected to your name or law firm. Search...show more content...
Neutral reviews are honest, providing the good and bad of the lawyer and/or firm. Not responding to or ignoring negative and neutral reviews shows potential clients that you don't care about them or the issue. This will turn clients away from you and toward the competition. Generate good publicity by responding to negative feedback. This shows potential clients reviews matter to you and your firm. It saves face to the company and your reputation because you are trying to resolve the situation.
The approach to responding, however, should be professional, polite, and brief. Unprofessional behavior such as sparring with reviewers makes lawyers unlikeable. The heated approach keeps the issue in the forefront, bringing mainstream media and additional people into the situation. The unnecessary attention and exposure may lead to irreversible damage to brand image and legal action. Instead, write the review with empathy and sympathy. Apologize for any issues caused on your end and vow to resolve the issue privately. Provide contact info. End the brief by saying comments like yours help me improve and I will try to do better. Taking online reviews offline eliminates escalated online and media mudslinging so the issue can fade and online reputation remains intact.
The Ugly
Some negative reviews exist due to reviews and testimonials have unfounded claims and exaggerated situations in their review. While some are
Reviewing Magazines Essay examples
Reviewing Magazines
National Geographic
I am reviewing a monthly magazine called "The National Geographic". This monthly magazine is priced suitably at £3.50 per magazine or £30 for a yearly order. The title of the magazine "Then National Geographic" is likely to appeal to those who are interested in the geographical content and the Natural world and beyond. The price is very favourable as it allows all socio–economic groupings to purchase it. As the magazine doesn't depend on advertising it has become a well established informative magazine in its own right. "The National Geographic" is a well known and well established company. Word of mouth is its advertising recommendation. The magazine...show more content...
Also this leads back to the content of the magazine, issues affecting not just one part of the world, but generally affecting the whole world.
The magazine balances out the text with pictures. Most of the articles, if not all of them actually have pictures to go with the content of the text not only making it very informative through reading but also through observing the detailed pictures. Such qualities allow magazines well expand on their target audience, allowing people with disabilities who can't read to understand what the article. One problem with the articles is that they are very lengthy so this type of magazine would be mainly suitable for competent readers.
Top Gear
Reviewing this magazine we learn that it is issued every month at a realistic price of £3.75. The title of the magazine "Top Gear" is well known as it co–insides with the BBC television programme. Immediately from reading the title we know that it is something to do with things in motion hence the "gear" part. When looking at the front cover it instantly becomes apparent that it is about cars. The target audience of "Top Gear" would be appealing to people interested in purchasing a new/used car who are seeking advice, general car lovers who like to read the reviews on cars or people
Importance and Characteristics of Literature Reviews A literature review examines existing research that is important to the work that you want to do. Literature reviews provide important background information and details about a specific research topic. Providing background information can help to demonstrate the importance of a topic, and can help to establish understanding of a subject or issue. An effective literature review also provides a space to elaborate on future work to be done on a topic and allows an author to define where their work fits into a larger context. An effective literature review details important research trends and also examines strengths and weaknesses of both specific studies and larger research contexts. Identifying any gaps in understanding or knowledge of a topic is important to establishing the significance of a current or future research endeavor. Steps for Creating a Literature Review Creating a literature review is not always direct process, as you may need to continually modify your project to focus on certain details. You may find yourself repeatedly coming back to and adjusting your literature review to reflect changes in either the size of your project, the breadth of your research topic, or other aspects. Generally, literature reviews involve the following steps: preparing for the type of review desired, reading existing research, analyzing research and trends, writing the review, and revising the final literature review.
My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned
Literature Review Literature About Packaging
Literature Review
Packaging:
Packaging can be understood in various definitions and provide many functions within itself. In terms of marketers, it is the brand image, packaging represents the worth of the brand and how the brand wants consumer to perceive their products. An attention seeker, stealing the fame on the shelf full of competitors. Packaging also acts as protection for the product. Some are more protected if they're fragile where as some may only be under a clear plastic wrap. Investment on packaging may be cheaper or as expensive in price with traditional mass media and public relation, but the return is far more pleasant. Underwood et al., (2001) and Underwood (2003) also mentioned another reason to why packaging as become so significant. There is an increase in recognition that packaging can bring out point of differences and disparity of brand identity. There are many factors marketers have to study upon in maximizing its ability to differentiate its brand among the others for consumers to notice. Therefore, it is important to take in consideration how consumers perceive a product when they stand in front of the shelf. The five senses, which are the most important sense to focus on. Things like colours, do consumer take colours of packaging differently when it comes to culture difference? Do consumer retrieve memory of product packaging when its unplanned purchase or incidental purchase? Consumers with different level of involvement, would they view packaging differently? The impact of packaging to consumer buying behavior lies in many
Reflective Literature Review
This essay will review the literature to critically explore the value and purpose of reflective practice.
There has been a rapid increase in the ides of critical reflective practice over the last few decades, (Gould, 2004). Before we look at the value and purpose of reflective practice, it is important to take in account 'reflective practice' carries multiple meanings from the idea of professionals engaging in self–analysis to that of engaging in critical dialogue with others. For example, with reference to teacher education, Larrivee, (2000) argues that reflective practice is fusing together personal beliefs and values into a professional identity whereby critical reflection can take place without staying trapped in unexamined assumptions and expectations of our professional practice. Therefore, from this, it can be concluded that as a teaching professional, it is important to develop reflections on ones' professional and pedagogic knowledge to set aspirational goals for a continuing personal and professional development, in other words, it is a way of life.
Schon (1983), identifies two types of reflection; reflection–on–action (after–the–event thinking) and reflection–in–action (thinking while doing). This clearly distinguishes that reflection can occur whilst the action is carried out as it can still benefit the situation rather than reflecting on how things will be done differently for next time. This tool can be effective as it will allow the professional to assess

Reflection About My Writing Course
At the end of this course, I feel that a lot has improved with my writing. When I first started this course, I was struggling with a lot of writing mechanisms. One of the things was transition. I was just writing without thinking of how to connect my thoughts. After completing numerous writing assignments, I am fully confident with my ability to have a paper that flows. Another thing that I struggled with was organization. Although I still have a lot of improvement to make, I think this aspect of my writing has improved. One of the things that helped me immensely was creating an outline before writing my paper. Another aspect of my writing that also improved has to do with run–on sentences. I see a lot of changes in my writing and writing run–on
Article Reviews : My Weaknesses And My Strengths
Jacquelin Garcia
English 071
September 29, 2014
Dear Sarah,
While writing the article reviews, I saw my weaknesses and my strengths. I found that Sometimes it's difficult for me to get started with an idea, but when I'm going through the writing process it breaks it down of me so I'm able to keep up and revise even better.
When the time came to revise my essay in class I noticed proofreading strategies. I was able to catch my own mistakes and found a lot of parts that didn't even make sense. I never really like to read my papers even when we did the drafting in high school. However, I came to see during this project that reading my essays is like my best friend. I'm not very sure about my writing ability to pick up on certain words because I usually write like I talk. In the future I hope I fix this.
I also found feedback from you very useful. I read it and I'm like yes she totally described my wring. I know that I had to change things but I couldn't find my writing style. It was hard for me to incorporate the feedback because I didn't know how to start. I'm sure I will get better but as of right now I found it difficult so I know that my writing may have not been that great
A weakness in my writing was coming up with what to write about. While writing the reviews, I thought what I could incorporate, so I went to the writing center. This gave me a chance to see what my main focus would be. However, I didn't find it like it helped a lot. My ideas were still all over the
Review : Book Review
The reaction of the curators' fellow academics largely ranged from mixed to positive, with criticism being much more nuanced and muted than the comment books and national press. Former Librarian of the United States Congress and Historian, Daniel Boorstin, was a notable exception, who led the charge against the exhibit commenting in the first guestbook that it was "perverse, historically inaccurate [and] destructive." Most academic reviews were positive, especially praising the catalogue which provided considerably more nuanced and detailed analysis that the wall texts. Some historians found it hard to see what all the fuss was about, with Byron Pierce remarking that the ideas expressed in the exhibit were "hardly controversial to...show more content...
Similarly, in the introduction, Broun stated that the show dealt with issues that "America still struggles with today" while Truettner stated "Today, a century after America's creation myth was ushered into the world, we struggle with its inadequacies and insensitivities," indicating that the exhibition was indeed making a comment on contemporary society. This opened up a powerful line of attack against the curators in the comment book with one guest writing, "It is ironic that an exhibit which accuses all American frontier art as being the lowest form of false propaganda should itself resort to propaganda of the most obvious, most popular kind." (in footnotes another accused the curators of doig exactly what they accused the artists of doing) The historian Thomas Vale mounted a similar criticism, wondering "what 'hidden agenda's' lurk in conscious or subconscious minds of the writers" if one were to apply the same scepticism TWAA applied to Western artists. Vale concludes that, much like the artists, the writers were simply reflecting the social concerns of their times. As displayed throughout this dissertation, this was very much the case and had the curators acknowledged this, they may have staved off some of the criticism,
