Compare And Contrast Research Paradigm
Description of Two Contrasting Research Paradigms
Qualitative Research Paradigm
A paradigm is essentially what guides the research conducted by a researcher. Qualitative and quantitative are the main two research paradigms that guide a researcher. These are basically beliefs about reality or ontology. This is called relativism and in this paradigm, the researcher believes that there are many qualitative perspectives of reality. Generally this type of research is subjective. Qualitative research analysis is generally inductive and focuses on experiences and perceptions of research participants. Research design methods for this paradigm include phenomenology (lived experience), ethnography (influence of culture) and grounded theory (social process) (NurseKillam, 2017).
In an article written by Locke, she discusses interpretivist (or constructivist) (Qualitative) paradigm. The interpretivist (or constructivist) believes that individuals or groups construct reality based on interactions with the social environment. This paradigm is distinguished by an interest in understanding the world of lived experience from the point of view of those who live it. The researcher is concerned with subjective reality. Researchers working in this paradigm focus on particular situated actors who they construe as composing meaning out of events and phenomena though prolonged processes of interaction that involve history, language and action.

1. The two types of organization that may be used in a compare/contrast essay would be either block or point–by–point. With block, the first set of paragraphs covers one item completely and then the other set of paragraphs covers the other item completely. In point–by–point, each point is addressed in a separate paragraph, alternating between both subjects.
2. One thing I learned from reading this overview was the different types of methods there are when comparing and contrasting two subjects. I didn't know there were specific ways to organize just in general. As well as how point by point has a stronger effect on readers.
3. It is important to maintain consistency when writing a compare/contrast essay because you need to make sure the
Compare And Contrast Essay On Childhood
A person's life can be summed up within a sentence, their childhood just a word. Time has the interesting ability of warping. At the same time, it has the ability to take away sentiment from any event.
Words can only express so much of an experience. One can only relate to an experience by sharing that moment, even then the way individuals process experiences differs drastically. A prime example of this is one's childhood. People can share the same superficial characteristics, yet have two different takes on childhood. Two male middle children with separated parents and two siblings can diverge completely. Where does this lie? It lies within one's processing, which in turns creates unique same experiences. Every individual is...show more content...
The Stage For children, the greatest thing fought for is recognition. Especially as a young girl, it's only natural to crave attention.
I grew up as an extroverted child. That's one of the reasons why I was attracted to the stage; it was my domain, my home. My mom told me that my extroversion became apparent in one specific situation. My family and I were at the beach for our annual beach trip and I was making sandcastles. There was another little girl near us who was also playing in the sand. My mom told me that I walked over to the little girl and just sat down and started playing with her, at one point she asked, "can we be friends?" my response was, "I thought we were already friends."
The Dancer Growing up as an only child my best friends were the Disney princesses. I watched them glide and dance along the screen, swinging in the arms of a handsome prince. They were magnificent. Beautiful, graceful, and powerful. I wanted nothing more to join their brigade. At three, I was put in dance classes to make this dream happen. Tap and jazz, definitely not the princess dancing I imagined. This became apparent when the first recital came around. We were given fluorescent, sparkly leotards. No ball gowns or even a tutu. I don't recall the reason for my following actions, but according to my mom when all the other little dancers took position and began dancing I didn't. I sat on the stage. My mother was furious,

Process Analysis and Comparison and Contrast Paper: Belgium and United States
Because I'm a foreign student from Belgium, I thought it would be interesting to compare and contrast Belgium to the United States. When you first see and start thinking about the title "Compare and Contrast Belgium and the United States", you will probably think that they are just two randomly chosen countries who are pretty much equal too each other. You are absolutely wrong, if this was your first thought. If you take a closer look to both countries, you will see some huge differences between them. Belgium, a really small country, is located in northwestern Europe. The neighboring countries are the Netherlands to the North, Germany to the East, Luxembourg...show more content...
According the article from CNN 'Delta State shooting: Police seek suspect after history professor killed', a professor of the Delta State University got killed after someone shot him in his office on September 14. (Cnn, 2015) How messed up is this? Students and professors are not even safe in a school or University. Public places like schools and universities, should be a place where everyone is safe.
Another similar example happened on December 15 2012. According to the article from BBC 'Connecticut school shooting: Children among 27 killed', a gunman has killed 20 children and also six adults at a primary school in the US state of Connecticut.
"The United States has the highest rates of firearm–related deaths (including homicide, suicide, and unintentional deaths) among high–income countries. For youth 15 to 24 years of age, fire– arm homicide rates, as documented by Richardson and Hemenway, were 35.7 times higher than in other countries. For children 5 to 14 years of age, firearm suicide rates were 8 times higher, and death rates from un– intentional firearm injuries were 10 times higher in the United States than other high–income countries." Compare and Contrast Essay By definition; love is a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. Love can be interrupted in many ways. Were we ever taught love or is it just a natural feeling towards a person? Some say you'll know the meaning of love when you fall in love, yet some don't believe in love at all.
The sculpture "LOVE" created by Robert Indiana and the sculpture "The Kiss" made by Auguste Rodin both share some of the same meanings behind the art work (Indianapolis Museum of Art) (Rodin's The Kiss Sculpture). A major similarity between the two is love; which attracts and speaks to people all around the world. Although they are spoken in different ways, they both have the idea of making love. This piece is also an abstract form of art and more modern the color is red and has a feeling of happiness and joy and you have the urge to feel love just by seeing it so large and up front. "LOVE" has always been placed out in the open demanding attention from a lot of people to see. "The Kiss" is more of a classic form of art and has been placed in more private areas. Although it has a distressing grey color "The Kiss" has more depth; the feeling of intimacy is strong and makes a statement.
There are both similarities and differences in "The Kiss" and "LOVE". The emotion and meaning behind both are incredible, it shows and understands the meanings of love, lust, joy, and intimacy. Love can either be spelt out or expressed by action and is what both pieces show. Love can be interrupted in many ways, but there always has to be a kiss in love.

The stories "The Lottery" and "Young Goodman Brown" both appear to show that human behavior and judgment can be flawed, even if the person's intentions appear good to them. There is a level of fear and underlying evil in Puritan settings in both stories.

The theme of the story "The Lottery" is blind acceptance of something just because it is considered tradition. In Jackson's "The Lottery", symbols are utilized to help show the theme. The name of the story, "The Lottery", itself is a symbol. The term lottery can be viewed, by most, as a good thing, a hope in winning, but winning the lottery takes on a very different, very dark meaning in Jackson's story. Also, the names of the characters are symbols as well. For example, Graves is a name that would portray death and Summers is a bright and cheerful name. Also, the name Old Man Warner would show tradition. Next, is the use of the black box and the black dot on the paper. The color black is showing darkness, evil, and death. The tradition of the black box is a symbol, in the fact that it is worn and faded, but still used by the villagers. Shirley Jackson conveys the theme very clearly through the use of symbols. In the end, the villagers are shown to be evil and murderous just because of tradition. The villagers do not seem to have a problem with murdering others within the lottery because it is what they have always done and no one is going to declare that what they are doing is wrong. This shows the reader that following blindly can have dangerous consequences. The theme of "Young Brown Goodman" is that the main character is basing his beliefs and faith on what others in his life believe or have faith in. The theme of "Young Goodman

A study done by The American Animal Hospital Association say; that if people were stranded on a desert island, they would prefer the company of their pet. They are messy, clumsy and will poop where ever nature calls if they are left in the house too long. Dogs claim their territory by urinating on everything; it's a good thing they are trainable. They will chew on just about anything that fits in their mouth; it takes love and patience to raise a dog. But on a good note some dogs learn to fetch your slippers when ask for them. The dog is not known for being independent because they can not be left alone for long periods of time. They require walking and being let out to relieve themselves a few times a day. When alone they seem sad and do not play with their toys; unless they are chewing on something. Their lack of complexity allows the dog to enjoy the out doors like running, pick–nicks, car rides and swimming. They are not moody and are ready for anything. Dogs on top of being potty trained and fetching slippers they can be trained to have human service jobs such as; police, military, fire department, rescue force, Seeing Eye dog, explosive and drug dogs. Dogs have evolved from being wild and harming us to being our protectors and now aid us and rescue us.
People and cats have certainly had a chequered relationship. Revered by ancient Egyptians then reviled in the middle ages as witches' familiars, cats until recently had occupied a cozy, if often unnoticed place in our households, (Gaille Perry, Urban Animal Management Conference Proceedings 1999). Cats from early history were originally

The Compare/ Contrast Essay
First, let's explain compare and contrast:
When we compare, we show our readers a subject's similarities.
When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences.
Compare and Contrast essays are learning–process essays. You learn about your subject as you gather and organize information.
This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of facts, that helps you learn as you go.
You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will discover insights to your subject that, at first glance, you may not have realized were there.

And you will either compare or contrast, not both. Be careful, sometimes going point by point can make your writing sound tedious and repetitive. Watch your language and transition words. Use several points at a time.
Ending: As in the argumentative essay, bring it all together. Allow your ending to go back to your thesis. Use the transitional words on the next page to help your paper's coherence. Transitions and other connecting words and connecting sentences should be used throughout.
Remember: There are no hard and fast rules as to how many comparisons or contrasts you should offer. For a thorough look into your subject, you must offer enough comparisons or contrasts or both to make a valid statement.
Transitional Words (Conjunctival Adverbs)
Use these words to help you connect your thoughts, your sentences, and your paragraphs:

Cleaning with Barry and Britt
The act of being habitually and carefully neat and clean can make for an interesting topic in a comparison and contrast essay. Dave Barry compares the differences of how women and men clean in his compare and contrast essay, Batting Clean– Up and Striking out. In Suzanne Britt's compare and contrast essay, Neat People vs. Sloppy People she compares the differences of personalities between Sloppy people and neat people. Both essays compare cleanliness in one way or another however they both have differences regarding their use of humor, examples, and points made in their thesis.

The way Barry and Britt support their points in their compare and contrast essays differ. In Batting Clean–Up and Striking Out, Barry uses lots of personal stories and factual happenings to explain his opinions. For example, to explain how men are worse at cleaning Barry specifically refers to a volcano eruption that happened in Pompei because the men, who were in control of the cleaning, did not notice ashes piling up around and in their houses. In addition, when describing how men are better with sports than woman he refers to a personal story; specifically a story about a dinner party that he attended where the men were glued to the World Series and the women were still chatting amongst themselves. These forms of examples are personal stories that offer validity. On the other hand, in Britt's Neat people vs. Sloppy people she uses more dreamt up incidences to explain her opinions. For example when explaining how neat people are "viscous with their mail" she explains, " All ads, catalogs, pleas for charitable contributions, church bulletins, and money–saving coupons go straight into the trash can without being opened...No sentimental salvaging of birthday cards or the last letter a dying relative ever wrote. Into the trash it goes" (256). As seen in this example, Britt uses lots of lists and possible incidents that could exist to support her points, but do these incidences

Compare And Contrast Traditional Teaching Styles
No teachers are similar as well as no students learn in the same way. Every teacher has their own unique teaching style which is based on their educational philosophy, their classroom's demographic, what subject area they teach, and the school's mission statement. Up until now, teachers are looking for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will develop the students' critical thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want the classroom to be in order and in control, but they also want their students to appreciate the learning procedure. These teaching styles can be divided into two approaches – the teacher–centered and learner–centered.
Traditional teaching styles use teacher–centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the front and tells students step by step instructions. The teacher decides what is learned, when it is learned, how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information giver and evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions. Their attention is mainly focused on passing tests, assessments, and evaluations.
Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. The earliest recorded occurrence of education proved that people learned in a...show more content...

The students will soon realize that mistakes are natural in life and it will serve as stepping stones to

Chapter seven also has many similarities and differences between the text and video versions. The first textual scene varies quite differently from that of the movie. The book begins with Mr. Pumblechook and Pip eating breakfast together. Pumblechook quizzes Pip on his times tables, and then the pair makes its way toward Miss Havisham's house, whereas in the video, they are already reached Miss Havisham's. Another difference arises through the dialogue of Pumblechook and Estella upon Pumblechook and Pip's arrival at Miss Havisham's house. When Pip and Pumblechook first encounter Estella, in the novel, the conversation takes place through an opened window, and Pumblechook does not enter the house (689), whereas in the film, Pumblechook and Pip enter through a creaking wooden door, and the young girl...show more content...
The difference in lighting probably so that the viewer could more easily see the action of the scene. Miss Havisham's attire, both during her and Pip's initial meeting and throughout the novel, does not vary between the texts. Miss Havisham asks "Who is it?", and receives the reply "Pip, ma'am". She then questions "Pip?", to which Pip elaborates "Mr. Pumblechook's boy...Come––to play" (690). Following learning Pip's name, in both the book and the movie, Miss Havisham instructs Pip to "Come nearer; let [her] look at [him]" (690). Once Pip has moved closer to Miss Havisham, in both versions of the story, Miss Havisham says, "Look at me. You are not afraid of a woman who had never seen the sun since you were born?", to which Pip replies that he is not scared (690). In the novel, Miss Havisham replies to Pip's negation by asking him about the heart, suggesting that it is "broken", but in the video (690), Miss Havisham just instructs Pip again to move

Definition: In this kind of essay, the aim is to show the similarities and differences of two items, two people, two countries, or how something or someone has changed. When comparing two things, we focus more on the similarities though we may mention the differences shortly. When contrasting two things, we point out the differences between them. The most important point to consider while planning a comparison and contrast essay is choosing comparable items. e.g. Middle East Technical University and Bogazici University. These types of goods can be consumed simultaneously by several individuals without diminishing the value of consumption to any individual. Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training, however not much practical experience in the classroom and dealing with difficult situations. "For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their poor behavior was often the cause of the major low points".
In some aspects there is very little difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to their knowledge in their subject, both should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both want to make a difference to their students' life, to teach them to the best of their capability. However there are differences in how they teach their subject, how they come across to their students and how they manage their classrooms. More experienced teachers will be more confident in their approach, more prepared to deal with a variety of learning needs, have made mistakes in the past and learned from these to better prepare themselves for the future. Generally new teachers lack the confidence to teach which can only be gained through experience, they need to learn what works and what does not, reflect on this and incorporate this into their next lesson. New teachers do however have a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to mould themselves into a confident and knowledge teacher.

A few of the characters find out that they are alike their parents by many ways. Me and my mom share a connection just like that. We look alike, we act the same and everyone seems to know this. At times it is a great connection, others it is not good at all. It plays a big role in our relationship. A big effect it makes is in arguments. My mom tells me and my sisters about how she acted when she was younger. She tells me about how responsible she was, when she was younger. The one thing that she never tells us is that she is sensitive, and very dramatic. I know that I am dramatic, because one year for valentine's day I got a heart of candy saying drama queen. My older sister points out that when me and my mom stub our toes we both fall to the ground and say "owwwwwww" and as my sisters says we make it way bigger deal than we should have.
