Best Day of My Life Essay
Best Day of My Life
I remember that day well. It was just another match day at the coliseum but this was different because that day I was going. I woke early that day with anticipation. I raced down the stairs putting my clothes on as I went even though I knew that the battle wasn't on for another two hours. I could see that day would be a day I would never forget because crowds of people were already walking past the door, there had never been that amount of people that early before. A truck rolled past carrying bloodthirsty tigers which was heading for the abnormally large arena, I thought these must be for another battle but I was later proved wrong.
I joined the bloodthirsty, anxious...show more content...
I quickly took my seat because the stadium was filling up fast. The music was already playing so I knew the action was about to begin. The stadium was filled with people all here to witness this spectacular event. Many people were wearing red gowns and giant silk scarf's, it looked like a sea of red. I could smell freshly baked bread, I didn't know why though. At one point I had to cover my ears with the sheer volume coming from the impatient crowd.
The animal hunt was up first, I had only ever heard about this, I had never actually seen it. Ten people where put in with a pack of wild bears they were only given one sword each, they where totally hopeless because the ripped them apart. It was quite enjoyable because they were only slaves.
Now was the time I was waiting for, Caesar came out and introduced the big match and gave us a big surprise, he got his servants to throw out bread and fruit from a cart. This must have been what I could smell earlier. I caught an apple many people lost out though. Luckily it tasted nice because I was hungry. Tigras came out on a horse drawn carriage pulled by 4 horse decorated with flowers, the crowd went silent obviously the crowd supported Maximus. A short time later Maximus casually strolled out the crowd went wild knocking the apple straight out of my hand. Maximus waved to us all he was a true
The Pros And Cons Of Business English
In the global environment, it has become common for non–native English speakers to study business English as a specific tool, with the aim of interacting with English–speaking countries, or with companies that use English as a shared language. The reason we learn business vocabulary is because there are specific words and phrases used in business English that are more formal and appropriate than general English. In the world of trade and business, communication is typically made in English. Working in business, you'll be expected to conduct business negotiations and transactions in English, as well as write and respond to memos, emails, contracts, reports and agreements in English (depending on how strong your command of English is). The employees...show more content...
There are many professions that use ESP (e.g. law, aviation, medical, tourism, science and technology). If you do not know the specific English vocabulary or grammar you will not achieve international business relations. There are some who argues that business English and General English is not so different, but unfortunately that is not true. The objective is efficient and affective communication by using industry specific words and phrases. You can surely ascertain that if a company's employees cannot communicate effectively, the company can lose out on big business deals, commercial trading and even lose clients and bring company profits down. Yet, before a student or employee can start taking business English, he or she must have a good general English level of intermediate or higher comprehension. There are ways that you can teach business English to less experienced English learners; it is just going to take longer and more planning for them to learn it. It is important that you, as the teacher, inform the company if their deadline is realistic for the level the students are at. The time constraints the students may have will even make it more
My favorite season of the year is summer because of the warm weather, the school vacation, and the endless fun. I really enjoy the warm weather because it's the perfect atmosphere to do outdoor activities. My favorite part about summer has to be the fact that school is closed for two months. During summer, you're free to do whatever you want, not worrying about curfew or waking up early for school. Summer time is a great time to relax with friends and family by soaking up the sun at a beach or simply having dinner together.
I love the hot and humid days that makes you want to dive into a fresh and cold pool. When summer time starts, you can wear lighter clothes, which are much more comfortable. The weather allows people to go outdoors to...show more content...
The break calls for staying up late and waking up whenever you want to. Everyone works so hard during the school year, so they deserve that free time. Summer times are stress free, relaxing, and basically fun. You don't have to worry about homework, projects, and studying for a test. One of my favorite summer pastimes is staying up late watching movies and eating junk food, and then waking up late and having brunch.
Summer season is the best time for festivals and activities. You can never get bored on a summer day or night. During the day, there are fun activities such as: swimming, sports, picnics, and barbeques. Friends and family spend a lot of time together during the summer time. There is a lot of good food, drinks, and fun music. Everyone is laughing and having a good time. Summer evenings are the best time for concerts, movies, parties, and relaxing with friends. The summer evenings are beautiful because of the sparkly and glittery city lights. One of the best events of the year, July Fourth, happens during summer. The celebration of July fourth is very extravagant and glamorous. People gather around to celebrate and watch the display of fireworks. The vibrant colors and the loud sound of the fireworks are amazing.
Overall, summer is just a wonderful season with so much to offer. The best thing about this time of the year is that everyone is so happy, whereas, compared to the winter, everyone is
What Matters Most Important To Me
When I reflect on what matters the most to me I begin to look at what gives me a sense of purpose. Family, country, and believing in myself is what gives me that purpose and is what matters to me. I feel these characteristics are in the make–up of my DNA and what drives me day to day. If I were to pass away tomorrow, I feel in retrospect that I would not have any regrets because I live everyday with the mantra of family first, country second, and believing in myself.
My family means everything and more to me. They are my support, backbone, and give me the motivation to put forth my best efforts in everything I do. When I decided to start a new path after my Marine Corps career, going to school was one of many options I had. With the encouragement and support of my family I made the choice to go back to college eventually pursuing my dreams of attending TCU. When I made that choice I made a commitment to them to be the best student possible. My first year in college was an experience that was different than anything I was used to but I stayed true to my commitment earning academic honors, and scholarships. Every decision I make I do so with my family in mind....show more content...

A career in politics is something that I have great interest in, to become a servant to the people and pave the way for the younger generation to come in and
Methods to improve the standard of English by the government
English as spoken and written by Malaysians nowadays really isn't as standardised as one might expect it to be. The language itself which admittedly is not the native language for any of us Malaysians is not used in proper conduct as by the native speakers. We adapted a language which incidentally is considered one of the most important languages of which one needs to be able to speak in, yet we haven't been able to use it as it should be, that is by following the rules of a language, the grammatical rules and actually speaking the language without mixing it with any other lingo. There is a need to improve the standard of English in Malaysia. In par with that, the...show more content...
Thereby, the important thing would be one accepting the fact about his level and be prepared to start from there to steadily improve his language. Furthermore, the government can also pass an act that makes it a must for companies to set up an English class for their employees wherein the employees have to participate if they've got any idea of keeping their job. This would be an attempt to improvise the standard of English of the working class as usually middle age individuals usually wouldn't bother with their education once they've got a fixed job where they believe the concept of Education for a Lifetime (EFL) is not worth noticing. Moreover, lately blogging has become a hit choice for people to voice out their opinions. The government itself has agreed to its usage as long as the blogger does not get too intense in mentioning sensitive issues. However, most of the bloggers in Malaysia merely use their mother language to blog. Since the government does approve blogging perhaps it would be prudent to encourage the bloggers to use English as their medium as well. Not only will it improve the bloggers' command of the language it would also help improve the standard of the readers' English. Such were the examples for the methods
Pros and cons of English being the international lingua franca English speakers in the world including those who are in the inner circle, outer circle and expanding circle had reached to 380 millions of people since 2001. The finding shows how influential English Language is. Gradually, English become the international lingua franca, "utilized outside of the country or countries of its origin."( Subject Area – English Language Essays) The Lingua Franca There are both pros and cons of English becoming the international lingua franca.

"With English as the lingua franca, instead of having to choose a language that some of the participants in the conversation understand but not others, one can choose a language that leaves no one completely left out." (Benjamin Studebaker), I totally agree with this statement. People can communicate only when they have a common language, with English a language the widespread and popular in the world, English propose a potential benefits to the world as a lingua franca.
Despite the fact that English is beneficial for communication, there are drawbacks of English being the lingua franca. For institutionalized teaching of English in non–ENL countries, there are problems found. First, English grammar, vocabularies, pronunciation so on, serves as obstacles for students to learn completely standard English. "English grammar and verb conjugation is extremely irregular, requiring a considerable amount of rote memorization, instead of the application of logical and consistent rules" (Subject Area – English Language Essays The Lingua Franca) The above saying shows the difficult part of learning English, and it is true that we cannot create sentence in our own logic instead we do that in memorizing sentence patterns. Also, we won't know all of the slangs that the American and the British use meanwhile we cannot avoid they speak those

On phone calls, the listener of message may not see the speaker but it's proven by research that listener effectively respond to expressions and feelings of speaker, which listener may judge by the pitch or tone of the voice.
Prominent Barriers in Communication Faced By Global Firms
After defining the mode of communication, we can now explore barriers in communication that are faced by multinational corporations in globalized world. * Verbal Communication Challenges
In a multinational firm, intercultural interaction and diversity are commonplace but this very thing sometimes works against the company as manager from different part of the world may not be able to communicate properly to his colleague or subordinate who belongs to different country and culture. In this Language is the major barrier in cross–cultural communication, despite that most managers are equipped with second and third languages, but still chances of misunderstanding and miscommunications are high.
In virtual teams, wherein teams members are located at different geographical settings can face verbal communication challenges in real time. * Written Communication Challenges

Examples Of Naturalism In The Great Gatsby
Imagine having all the money in the world, and being able to live in a big house. Multiple people out there would kill to have all this. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, characters all throughout the novel, wish they could be part of another social class. They would do anything to have the endless piles of money, and have grand parties, like one character in the novel. The novel makes a naturalism argument about how people are unable to reach the American Dream, due to the social class that they were born into. First off, one character in the novel best represents not being able to reach the American Dream, due to doing things for the wrong reasons. To start off, Gatsby seems like the guy who has all the money, the guy who you
Greatest Invention Essays
What is the greatest invention of all time?
Throughout time there have been lots of new inventions which have both hindered and helped everyday life with humans. There are many different possible world's greatest inventions because they have all helped out humankind in some way, some more than others.
I think that the greatest invention of all time is Harnessed Electricity. Some may argue that this was not an invention it was a discovery but although electricity itself was a discovery there was still the invention of had to use it and what it could be used for. I think that electricity is very important to human life because it would be nearly impossible to do anything we do today. If we didn't have electricity a lot of things would...show more content...
I believe that the use of electricity in healthcare is more important than the use of penicillin because of the x–rays, MRI scans, life support machines, cat scans, ultrasound, surgery lighting, heart rate monitors, incubators and loads of other much needed specialist equipment. This equipment has over the years helped to save millions of lives and although penicillin helps to treat the odd few illnesses it doesn't help to run a well equipped hospital which saves even more lives with the billions of people who visit a hospital every year.
Without electricity there would be no light and it would constantly be dark from around 4pm ever day. This would restrict most people from doing things because as soon as it was dark they would have to go to bed because there would be no lighting. Nobody could go out after dark as there would be no street lights on the roads and houses would have to be lit by candle light which wouldn't give of the strength of light that a light bulb does now. Yet again it would be exactly like living in the dark ages.
The Six Major Barriers of Effective Communication
Language can be loaded with meaning, beyond its dictionary definition. The meaning of language is often encapsulated in culture from micro interpersonal to macro international. Culture defines who we are and it is expressed in the language we use. When culture is defined as a set of customs, traditions, beliefs, etc., it is more than just a national identity: it is a Sunday social group, a visible minority or youth group, a family run company, a corporate entity, a community. Culture encompasses that which we identify with as a member of society whether it be a large or small group within society. In today's world of business communication using a common lingua franca such as English helps to make communication more fluid but it is often not enough to bridge cross cultural gaps and common misunderstandings. In our communication we need to be careful in the language we use and the meaning we either knowingly or unknowingly impart on our listeners. (Czako,K., 2015)
In our Business Communications text, the author (McLean, S. 2010) cites 6 major barriers to communications. These major barriers are common in all languages around the world and are therefore universal in their manifestation. They embody the culture of a nation as much as they embody the daily life of a local community group or individual. We identify with and use them on a daily basis. However their place in a business setting is not always appreciated or

These data bases were searched for the terms such as 'cardiac rehabilitation', 'quality of life,' 'benefits', and 'CHD'. Inclusion criteria were qualitative articles, written in English and published between the years of 2010 and 2017. Quantitative articles and articles written in non–English languages are excluded from this study. Moreover, this study focused only on adults, therefore the paediatric studies are also excluded from this study. After applying the inclusion and exclusion strategy, 12 articles reported qualitative study regarding the topic and they are used in this essay.

1.1a Exercise Physical inactivity is one of the modifiable risk factor for the coronary heart diseases (Devries et al, 2011), and therefore exercise is used as an integral component of the primary and secondary prevention in reducing mortality and improving the quality of life. Upon reviewing the literature, the author found that, patients' perspective about physical exercise differs widely. In their study Holder et al (2015) found that, the increased awareness of the mortality after the cardiac event, help the patients to change their outlook towards life and this further help them to realise the health benefit of exercise. In addition to that, some of the patients claimed that, exercise helped to divert their mind and thus helps them to cope with the condition (Holder et al, 2015). Moreover, the current cardiac rehabilitation programme, made the patients aware of the health benefits of exercise and, therefore they were motivated to continue the exercise (Hillsdon et al, 2013; Morken et al, 2013). Exercising in a safe environment, under the supervision of the trained staff increases the confidence of patients in participating exercise (Morken et al, 2013). The study also found that, the patient increases their self–confidence level in performing exercise, after seeing the health improvements in the former cardiac patients (Morken et al, 2013). Furthermore, Back et al (2017) carried a further study to evaluate
Essay about The Best Places I've Ever Visited
I have visited a lot of places around the world. Traveling is fun to me and its very interesting to me. Looking to learn more history about countries with their cultures trying new things around their culture their past because if you wanna look at the future of somthing look at the past.

Caffeine Research Paper
It's the night before your math exam and you decide to learn three weeks worth of material in one night. When 1:00 comes around and you can feel your eyes starting to get heavy, what do you grab to give you extra energy? Is it coffee? Is it a Red Bull? Why do these types of drinks help us keep our eyes open long enough to get through that last chapter? The answer is caffeine.
According to Joseph Flynn a pediatric nephrologist, Caffeine is a natural element that is present in over 60 plant species. Moreover, it is a Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant that helps relieve fatigue and prevent or treat drowsiness. Human beings majorly take it in the form of coffee, tea, cocoa and other soft drinks. Coffee is the most consumed caffeinated drink...show more content...

Future prediabetes attenuated the associations suggesting that the effect of coffee on cardiovascular events may be facilitated by its long–term influence on blood pressure and glucose
Book Report Great Gatsby
The name of the book that this report describes is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This story takes place in New York City in the summer of 1922. This time period is often referred to as "The Roaring Twenties," which was the good time in the United States before the crash of the stock market in 1929.
The story begins with the move of Nick Carraway from the Midwest to West Egg in the district of Long Island, New York during the summer of 1922. Nick's point of view is used for the duration of the story, as he is the main character. West Egg is described as a very wealthy area full of people who made lots of money very quickly and love to show it off. These people also haven't been rich long enough to make any social connections, unlike Nick, who has connections in East Egg, where the more settled rich live. Nick is also not as upscale as his neighbors in West Egg.

Then, Gatsby tells Nick that it was Daisy who was driving his car and hit Myrtle, but Gatsby intends to take the blame. George Wilson, Myrtle's husband, somehow jumps to the conclusion that whoever killed his wife was her lover. After discovering the owner of the car involved in the deadly accident, he sets out to get his revenge.
Nick stops by Gatsby's mansion after work the afternoon after the accident to find that George Wilson had shot Gatsby and, afterwards, shot himself. Soon after this event, Nick composes a funeral for Gatsby, parts ways with Jordan Baker, and moves back to the Midwest because of how revolted he is with New York and the wealthy.
I would recommend this book because of how exceptional the story is. However, I am not enthused how F. Scott Fitzgerald chose to write it because of the lengthy sentences and words that were beyond my vocabulary(I had to look up the definition of many words in this book). Overall, I can see why this book is such a
What Would A Satisfactory Moral Theory Be Like?
In James Rachels' book, The Elements of Moral Philosophy, he expresses ideas within the concluding chapter, "What Would a Satisfactory Moral Theory be like?" that lay an silhouette of every moral approach we have discussed so far and compounding it into a final discussion with a couple of final contentions towards a comprehensive understanding of morality and the approaches we can make as moral guides to make decisions that are virtuous for each class without exception. Rachels' gives thoughtful perspective on all subjects that we have learned about and makes final accumulations for the way we can decide to use these for our own benefit. While then expressing the virtues we must value for ourselves to have a best plan, and the ways our choices can help others in a positive aspect....show more content...
Our natural state within the universe when compared to the scale of history is extremely insignificant, and arises the fluid thought that our complete conscious existence relies on evolutionary accidents. It becomes clear with time that our knowledge of ourselves as a population of species compared to any other mammals is quite significant but yet completely detrimental to the health of our universe. We must be able as humans to grasp these concepts and particularly build a world better suited for future figures to give philosophical thoughts and aspects as the human race continues to develop. There is a shortcoming with our behavior, as Rachels describes, that if an action would help satisfy our own self–interest, than we see the most reason to perform such tasks. This leaves us prone to being selfish and to sometimes hold interests out of other people's version of acceptable behavior. Rachels signifies that all people do not have to follow any one true combination of morals, ethics, or
We All Learn From Our Mistakes Essay
Everyone, at some point in their life, has made a mistake. Sometimes we get lucky and only falter a little, making it through the problem relatively intact. Other times, we mess up a lot and have to fix what was damaged over a long period of time. However, the same is true for most, if not all cases–those who make the mistake learn from it. Often times, our failures teach us valuable lessons that we only gained because of the experience we gathered after messing up. I have personally achieved a wealth of knowledge and experience just from all of my own little mishaps, and a few major ones.
One instance of a failure that taught me well was when I tried to find a quick solution for boiling eggs. I was so tired of what I considered the...show more content...
It's obvious that the mistake I made taught me a very useful lesson that day–never try to boil eggs in the microwave.
Another turbulent time that taught me through failure was when I tried to arrange a birthday party for my sister. Everything was supposed to be arranged by me, so I went out a bought the invitation cards, party favors, balloons, decorations, food, and a few gifts. I filled out the invitations early and put them in a box to store them until I was ready to send them. Time flew by fast between daily life with my kids and responsibilities, and before I knew it the day of the party was upon me. Quickly that morning I decorated and cooked and prepared everything. As the hour of the party came and went, no one showed up but the birthday girl, whom I had called personally. Later it occurred to me that I hadn't sent out the invitations! That was why no one had come. I soon learned from that mistake to be more organized and manage my time better when planning events.
Yet another example of a failure that became instructive was when I tried to tile my bathroom floor. I simply did not want to dish out the big bucks to have a worker do my tiling, which I assumed would be an easy job. I bought the necessary items and dove into the project with an eager do–it–yourself attitude and absolutely no clue about what I was doing. I tried diligently to tackle the task, but in the end, I only managed to get grout everywhere and
My Best Day At School
My Best Day at School
"Hey, mom what's for breakfast?" I shouted while getting dressed.
"I'm making pancakes & eggs." She shouted back at me. I hoped that she would at least wake me up earlier before 6 am so that way I could take a shower before school. But instead, she woke me up at 7 am. I soon got ready for school & walked down stairs for breakfast.
"How many pancakes do you want?" she asked.
"I'll have two." I replied as I sat down at the table.
"Here you go," she said while she set the plate down on the table. I soon later got done & was waiting for the bus. I saw my mom cleaning so I went up to her to ask a question.
"Hey Mom, why do I have to go to school," I said jokingly.
"So that way you learn more stuff & you could soon leave my house when you go to college." She said while laughing. But I don't know if I found it funny. "Well.... that's kinda rude." I said in a sad voice. Soon later I started to leave & wait for the bus. It took a little while but the bus arrived. I started to walk & got on the bus & sat at the back of the row of the bus. It was only me in the back of the bus because all my friends either walk or they get rides from their parents or even brothers & sisters. "Man I really don't want to go to class at all." I thought to myself while I was walking into the school building. I soon got to my class & sat down at my table. Except Mr. Kane wasn't there. "Hey Tom. Where is Mr. Kane." I asked him.

My Future Plans For The Future
Imagine the perfect life, the perfect family, dream house, dream car, and the perfect career. That's what I hope someday my life will be like. Everyone has a future plan, to make the best out of our life, what is your plan? My future plan is to be a pediatrician. I would like to help the children of the future. They are the next generation and I would like to leave a legacy for them to follow. I want to help save and make a child happy someday. The thought of making a difference in someone's life is the reason I can go to sleep peacefully. We all have a purpose for being here and I my purpose is to save one of us, my purpose is to help the ones in need, the ones in the street begging for somewhere to live, the ones dying of poverty. However, right now in the 21st century technology has taken over the world, not figuratively but literally. It made the world, both a bad and good place. People are going to run out of jobs and tech will run the world. Technology will be the greatest invention of human kind but how will it affect some of us? First to begin with, Technology is part of our everyday lives. Every nook, every corner we turn there is someone with technology. In doing research it says technology is advancing so fast that it will be a thousand times more advanced in the next 10 years. From having no technology in the 1900s we are currently flourishing with technology every day, in our house there is at least 10 different items that are connected to the internet. To
