Write An Essay About You As A Writer
It is the end of this high school year and I am glad to say that I accomplished many things. The idea of doing a blog was a very successful one, given that I was able to write about what i like and improve my writing skills. Therefore, I believe that throughout this year I was able to grow as a writer, express myself better, and expand my knowledge. In addition to my English class, I was also able to improve my skills in others subjects such as history and theology, in which I had to write a few paragraphs, but mostly I had to read a lot which definitely expanded my knowledge and improved my vocabulary. That said, since I was required to write about different subjects, I also had to improve research skills and my creativity when writing about personal opinions. Overall, being able to write not only English related papers made me abroad my thoughts and enhance my writing skills. In the same way, my English papers and blog entries also helped me to become a better writer. I was very found of my blog posts, not only because it was a reflection on my life but also because of the effort that I put in it. I procrastinated way less this last quarter by making...show more content...
I am sure that I have improved a lot my writing and reading skills. However, I still have to exceed on how to organize my thoughts and making better word choice. With that in mind, I'll always be looking for new ways, such as reading, that will make me a better writer. However, I'm glad to say that from the beginning of the year until now I outdid myself with significant progress. All that said, I have the goal to keep on writing during the summer so that I can practice the skills that I learned. Thus, this year was very important in making me a more insightful person, and a better writer. For that reason, I hope to keep myself motivated so that I can learn more and more and continue to express myself through my
The Writing Process
The very first essay assignment I had taught me an important lesson. It is hard for me to write ideas down for essays. It is difficult to get my thoughts together to make a sentence. High school essay assignments require a lot of paragraphs. The writing process makes me feel very stressed. I get frustrated trying to think of ideas. Sometimes, I can not think of any ideas to write about. Some essays give me a topic that i do not understand and it makes me confused. I freak out inside, wondering if I will ever get the work done. Finally, I think of a really good sentence but the second I am going to write it down, I completely forget what I was going to write. I worry I will fail and get a bad grade. I wonder if I could do a better job on
Improving My Writing
A good writer is someone who knows how to write well, have ideas to put on paper and write a well–organized essay that answers the question that a professor gives to you. I identify my own writing by not being good because I have issues sometimes getting words on paper, organizing the essay and my grammar is not very well. The methods that are effective for improving my own writing is practice writing and have someone proof read my work. I am in COM100L because my grammar is not good and my writing on paper is all over the place. My expectation for this course is to improve my grammar when I write essays and fix my mistakes when I write.
Personal Narrative: My Essay For Me
My essay for assignment 5 was the most memorable essay for me to write. When I first looked at this assignment, I was nervous about writing a letter from my grandfather to myself. I did not know what he would say to me since I didn't talk to him much during his last days. Instead of writing out a whole letter, I decided to just write parts of a letter and analyze each part as I wrote. I felt that this was a better strategy for me because it allowed me to compare my feelings to those that I thought my grandfather would feel. The letter from my grandfather discussed the reasons why he felt he had to hide his leukemia from me. My grandfather talked about wanting to remain strong for the family; he did not want the rest of the family to...show more content...
At the end of my essay, Jeff informed me that this essay was the best essay I had written in this class. He called it a masterpiece. I started tearing up in class on Monday when I read these words. I had never viewed myself as a good writer when writing about personal topics. For Jeff to say such nice things about my grandfather proved to me that I am capable of self–disclosure. The comments affected me tremendously; Jeff's assurances of my writing in my essay are what motivated me to write this assignment. Originally I was going to keep this essay a secret from my parents, but I eventually told my father about this essay. He cried when I read it to him. My paternal grandfather was the one who had died, and his death was extremely hard on my father. My father told me that he was haunted by questions similar to my own. My father feels lost without my grandfather. I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose a parent, even though death is inevitable. When my father heard my essay, he told me that he felt comforted by the fact that I expressed deep love and support for my grandfather. He assured me that my grandfather wanted me to remember him as healthy. Writing this essay has brought me closer to understanding not only myself, but also my relationship with my father. I understand what it takes to be strong when life is tough. I understand that it is okay to feel anger and guilt when a loved one dies. I understand that a family can act as a support system, but it is also okay to grieve alone. I used to want to be left alone right after my grandfather died. I needed space to think and cry. This essay acted as my gateway to breaking down the walls I had constructed and allowing my family back in. This essay allowed me to share my emotions with my father, and in doing so, I was able to help both him and myself
What My Writing Means To Me
Writing is my thing, and I can't help but do it every day! To me, it's a talent, it comes as an urgent call of nature that must be appeased. I have been writing since 2012, which means, we are talking of more than four years of content creation. I base my writing solidly on research and facts. I understand that the key reason for online writing is to engage readers and softly provoke them to take the intended action.
For over the years, I've enjoyed great success in writing articles, blog posts, web content and product reviews. I have also seen clients send me tips for the satisfactory projects I handled for them. I understand that the turnaround time is one of the most essential aspects of the writing process and therefore I ensure on–time
Me !: What Writing Means To You !
What Writing Means to You!!
Writing for me is a way of expression. It is way of letting go, without anyone having to know your thoughts. I believe writing is more interesting when you are doing it without being forced. Writing can be used in many different areas of life whether it is in school, work, or even at home. We are always writing, even when we don't think we are. Writing can help you be successful in life, it is a very important qualification on a resume. No place of employment wants to hire a person who is unable to write. Businesses need to have people who can put their ideas on paper. Unfortunately, writing papers get boring. However, you have to remember you are writing for a good
My Future Essay
My future is something I often think about. Most often, the questions that arise include the common doubts of "Am I doing this right?", or even the occasional midnight philosophical questions such as "Why are we here?", and so on. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the factors that have allowed me to reach this point in my life and how these factors influenced and continue to influence me, in order to provide me with a visualization of my future.
Factors that contributed to my current life choices include the desperate want to be something greater, as well as to experience the world in ways some could only dream of. I study hard, allowing for me to have the possibility of an early graduation. I dream big, allowing me with the imagination to draw up plans for myself and my future. I work hard, allowing me the strength and vision to execute my plans for the future. The way that I was raised has greatly benefited me. My parents have taught me that anything and everything is possible as long as you work hard for it despite the what others may tell you or even if the odds are against you. Another factor that led to my current life, is the amount of time I allow myself to think about my plans and refine them. This is extremely important because, without a solid, flexible, long–term plan, you could get lost in dreaming about the future, and end up not accomplishing anything. Hence, many aspects of my life have been planned out with not one or two possible alternatives
My Writing Process
I am going to explain what I feel when it comes to writing and what pictures represent me when it comes to the writing process. I have very mixed feelings when it comes to writing because it mostly depends on the subject that I am writing on to determine how I feel on the writing process. I feel really excited when it comes to writing because I love to express myself when writing it just makes me feel good inside. I also sometimes feel really bad when writing because sometimes l just don't want to write about some subjects. It depends how I feel about the subject because some subjects I feel very strong about subjects and others not so much. I hate some subjects because they bore me so much that it is hard for me to write about many subjects...show more content...
I feel this way sometimes because I got a good grade in the class or I got a good grade on a test and I am happy about it. The face also represents me after the sage test scores come back, I see my score and I passed and that made me really happy. The fourth face is a picture of a guy that looks really mad and depressed because something bad happened to him and he is sad or mad about it. This face represents me every time I get a test score back and it is really bad this is my face because I thought that I did really good and I did not. This face also represents me when I see my writing assignment back and I got a low score because of a bad
What Is Writing Like Me
Writing. Writing is a no. I do not like writing. It does not like me. I have very little good experiences with it. Maybe even none. The only good writing I can do is outside of school. When I attempt it in school, I forget words, how to spell them, and how to phrase them. Its like being in Kindergarten again. I have no motivation to start if I can even find an idea. Me and writing are like Zordon and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Thinking about it there's probably a better analogy out there like, I don't know, Batman and Joker if you wanna be boring. Or I could bring up something insensitive 'cause bringing up my writing can lead to great offense. Don't talk about it. If I wanted to bring up any experience I've had with writing, they would
How Does Writing Affect My Writing Style
Throughout my high school career, I have had to write countless essays. My writing style has improved remarkably each year, as I am very skilled at conveying my ideas on paper using details and emotion, and I have a system of how I construct my writing. However, careless grammatical errors the extensive amount of time I spend writing hinder my improvement with my writing style. Writing in general comes easily to me, but only after I have actually figured out what I am going to write about; which is the tricky part. Blasting music in my ears at nine o'clock at night is the perfect writing environment for me. The music helps drown out any annoying background noises, and as a night owl, my productivity reaches its peak at night. The most difficult part of the writing process for me is thinking of a subject to write about for a specific prompt. For example, I spent over two hours on my compare and contrast essay "Relaxed and Overprotective," just thinking of what to write about. However once I get started, it's smooth sailing from there. Incorporating details into what I write is my strong suit. My analysis essay "Different People, Same...show more content...
That part takes the most time; when I finally choose a subject, I ponder on some options for creative titles, something that comes naturally to me. More often than not, I will have a title before I write my essay. Then, I begin writing my essay chronologically; I have to start with the introduction first and end with the conclusion. Since the hardest part for me is just getting started, writing the rest of any essay for me doesn't trip me up. I write my essays all the way out until I edit them. Typically I will edit first, then when I believe I cannot make any further changes, I will let my best friend, Jensen DeGrande look over it since she's the only friend I have that I fully
Write An Essay About Writing To Me
I believe that writing is not only something that I am taught in school by structure, but also something that can be done freely. In my eighteen years, I have found that writing can be an out for me to express my feelings when words cannot always be spoken. For me, writing can be the only way to communicate the way I feel about certain things. Sitting down, putting pen to paper, and letting any thought or idea I have hiding out in my mind come to light is a feeling I cannot gain from anything else. I enjoy the way thoughts and phrases build upon each other to become greater ideas. For instance, once when me and my girlfriend were in an argument I found that writing helped our situation the most. We had argued for days and were not getting...show more content...
My classmates and I were asked to write a persuasive essay convincing our audience to do or believe something. We had just completed the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program so my first idea was to write about something pertaining to that. I chose to write a letter to my mom in hopes of persuading her to stop smoking. I had already tried telling my mom she should not smoke, and express my feelings of negativity towards her habit; nothing seemed to work. I sat down one evening began writing, and it took me days to get all of my thoughts onto paper the way that I wanted them. I edited and revised until I had the letter as perfect as I could get it. I presented the letter to my mother, she was in tears before she made it through the first paragraph. By the end of the letter she had agreed to quit smoking. Nine years later and my mother is still smoke free. I accredit all of this to writing and the way that it helps me express my feelings and to get my point across.
I do not believe writing exclusively passes on information or explains things. Writing is much deeper and emotional than that. I believe writing is unlike anything else in the way it can help one to express themselves and portray my feelings to another person. Writing is the only thing in my life that allows me to channel all of my thoughts and ideas into one place. I believe there is not a single thing in the world can compare or compete with
My Life Changing Learning Experience
School has always come easy for me, and rarely am I ever challenged. I am currently a 4.0 student, who has received A's their entire life, and I never had to work hard for a good grade. You can imagine how surprised I was when I began this class because it pushed me like no other class has before. I learned skills in this class that I will actually use in the future and real life. I have grown as a writer, and a learner, like I never have before. Foundations of Writing is the hardest class I've ever taken, but it is by far my most life changing learning experience.
I had no doubt this class would be more challenging than any other english class I have taken, but the structure helped tremendously. Before we learned a single thing in this class, we had to write two essay. One was to see where we stood, in terms of our writing ability, and the other was our first official paper. After we wrote the second essay, it was time to learn. We spent the next couple week learning and practicing the skills required to write a good paper. After that we had the opportunity to go back and fix our essay. This was so helpful for me, and it truly made the class much easier. I saw how horrible my writing was, and I was able to fix what needed to be changed. If the class structure was arranged in any other way, I would not have taken as much knowledge from it.
I have never in my life grown so greatly from a class and at the same time learned just as much. I am certain that in the years to come,

I Am Confident For My Writing
Writing has never been my strong suit so I understood why I had been placed into EWRT 211. Before this class I had not written an essay since I was a junior in high school (six years ago). I have always struggled with writing, but it was not until my first diagnostic essay that I realized how terrible my writing skills were. Everything about the diagnostic essay screamed that I did not know what I was doing. Since then, I have noticed a vast improvement in my writing. This class has taught me how to become a better writer by creating stronger theses and by knowing why rough drafts are important to writing. Nevertheless, I still need to develop better strategies to manage my writing. I chose my essays, What Influences Teens To Become Adults and Resilience Among College Students, because they demonstrate my growth throughout this class. Even though I still need to improve on managing my writing, I am confident in moving to EWRT 1A because I have learned how to create strong theses, and how rough drafts have a great impact on my writing.
Without a strong thesis an essay falls apart and fails to let the reader know what they are trying to say. For instance, in my rough draft Stop of Reality my thesis was very vague and did not meet the requirements for the essay. It stated, "Although the injustice that these [Native American] women face still continue to this day, the women these three tribes face...will slowly begin to see justice for the crimes that were committed upon them"
Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and...show more content...
I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter how many times I fell.
The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of
My Writing Style
Kim,
Thank you for allowing me to read your paper. This is a great start to a well written final product.
What do you like about the writing?
I enjoyed reading your paper. You have a writing style that invites the reader to fully engage your argument. You presented a clear, logical presentation of course material combined with personal insights and experiences that were well suited for your paper. It was a thorough and thoughtful presentation of the material. Well done.
How is the writing objective (not overly subjective) communicating ideas with clarity?
You provided a nice balance of objectivity and subjectivity as your cited ample evidence for your argumentation and interweaved personal reflections and anecdotes into the paper. Your did an excellent job in using the breadth and depth of texts that were used in our classes, which made for a well rounded paper. Apart from a few areas of your paper which may need to be reworded and fine tuned, I would suggest defining a few of the terms that are used in your paper, to make their meaning more clear to your reader (Weltanschauung, meaning perspective, distorted assumptions etc.). These are noted in my comments on your paper....show more content...
Your writing provided an orderly and structured approach to the presentation of your argument. I appreciated your use of citations to support your ideas, which helped the reader understand the connection between leadership and inquiry. There were a number of instances in which you provide overt transitions from one paragraph to another which promoted a pattern of thought that was easily digestible. I would offer the suggestion to use section headings in the paper that correspond to your key points. Occasionally, I was left wondering which section you were focusing on, even though it was well
Professional Writing Reflection
.
This course has afforded me the ability to improve my professional writing skills in the working field. The various writing assignments from the first assignment of writing a memo to the final assignment of a nursing exemplar has been a challenge. The learnings of a variety of elements that go alone with professional writing has heighten my knowledge and skills of writing. The remainder of this paper will give readers a view of what and how the writing assignments assisted me with this skill.
The learning I received from memo writing assignment would be to assure they are short, direct and remain within inside the company; anything longer than a page the reader loses interest. The assignment of composing a meeting agenda was one of my most pleasurable assignments, although it carried some complicatedness for me. I have never been required to formulate a professional agenda in my career; so, therefore, it required a lot of effort. In my opinion, the best element of the assignment was devising discussion question. Formulating these questions caused me to think critically and bring about my creativity. I do feel the need to continue practicing this skill in view of the fact that I have never been required to draw one up, and will possibly be experiencing this in the future. Therefore, I will continue to perfect this skill. With this assignment, I have learned how to create a professional agenda and how to integrate nursing literature into a professional meeting. The job research journal was one of my best–learned assignments. I thoroughly enjoyed the research portion, identifying each job mission and values and noting if they align with those of my own values. This also allowed me to profoundly research the advantages and benefits of the top two jobs chosen. This assignment I will carry throughout my career. For the resume and cover letter assignment, there wasn't much new information for me to learn as I was very familiar with the contents of a resume and cover letter. However, with this being so, I will continue to remember the significance of a resume and will continue to utilize them throughout my career. The mock interview and elevator speech will be very beneficial in my upcoming career; it will permit me
Personal Writing Reflection
This semester has been full of learning experiences for me in many forms. I feel like I have developed both as a writer, and a tutor. In regards to writing, I think that this class has helped me become a better writer in several different ways. One way I developed regards writing personal/social narrative essays. I had always felt like I was a strong writer when writing about personal experiences, but the social narrative project challenged me in several different ways. Looking back at my social narrative reflection, I had forgotten how angry and frustrated that project made me. In the reflection I even said "I feel like this project has lost purpose for me." Looking back, this frustration shows where some of my shortcomings were. Developing a "so–what" in that essay was very difficult for me. I was confusing the "so what" and my paper was reading more like a personal essay–rather than connecting my story to a broader community. This social narrative project helped me grow partly because it was so challenging for me at some points. I have always been considered a strong writer by many and myself, and It had been a while since I had run into frustrations like the ones I was having. The project helped me realize that no matter how "Strong" of a writer you feel you are, there are always certain aspects of writing, whether that be the field, topic, etc. that one can improve on. I have always strived to be a perfectionist, but in writing there may not be such a thing. This is still something I deal with, but this class has helped me ease some of my anxiety when it comes to being a perfectionist. Another way I feel like I have developed as a writer is through the tutoring process, I feel like I am better at picking apart my own work and trying to find places I can expand. Certain techniques which I have utilized while tutoring, like Glossing has been very helpful for me in writing essays. Finding the true meaning/ points behind a paragraph is really important for connecting your arguments to the thesis. I feel better equipped because know I know a wide range of techniques, some of which (glossing) work better for me than my writing process before. Another more conceptual thing that I think I have developed
Why Is Writing Important To Me
While growing up, I loved learning how to read and write. At approximately age four, my grandmother began teaching me the basics of reading and how to write the alphabet. The hours spent working with my grandmother influenced the love I have for literature. Although I have a passion for reading and writing, I feel this passion slowly fading with age. As I get older, I realize that reading does not seem as enjoyable as it used to be for me. Reading and writing has influenced my life in a thankful, a joyful, but also a slightly negative way.
Certainly, I will always have joy in my heart for literacy. Reading is sentimental for me. I can think back to the countless hours sitting with my grandmother learning how to sound out letters and place them together to form words. Almost every week, she would bring me a new book to read. We would read the entire book so many times that I practically had each page memorized. My favorite set of books she brought me home was "Junie B. Jones" by Barbara Park. During my second grade year, I had read every book in the collection,...show more content...
I take for granted the opportunities that are available to me through literacy each day. I feel pity for those who do not appreciate the importance of literacy. I am very thankful that my family taught me the importance of reading and writing at a very young age. It never occurred to me how important the ability to read and write is. Reading is an integral part of everyday life, and writing is an important part of communication. I never understood the importance of knowing how to recognize and write my own name until I realized that my grandfather did not know how to spell his own name. It saddens me that many people in this world do not know how to read and write. I am grateful that I am being raised in a time that the importance of literacy is stressed, and that I have the privilege to be knowledgeable in all aspects of
How To Write Me
I learned how to write when I was six years old. I was a very smart, curies and happy child. Being very interesting in new things made me practice writing and reading over and over again.
First, I started learning how to write a letter. Later on I learned that letters became words and the words became sentences .Also, reading a book taught me how to write was a way of expressing my feelings. Even if the life experience of a six years old child does not have a lot of things to write about, the adventures of everyday life inspired me to write my first page in my life.
When my mom found out about my passion for writing and reading she bought me my first diary. One sunny spring day, she came to my room and she gave me beautiful pink box with the
