Introduction
(Significance and background) Everybody in this class room has had or will have children. Anyway it will happen that your kids will become the most important point of your life. You will do everything to keep them happy. When they are small only you can influence on their behavior. Parents always want to see their kids healthy, well–bread and happy. After some time, when your heirs grow up enough, they will go to school. As soon as this happens you lose part of your influence on their upbringing. The school grabs this part from you. Students usually spend 1/3 of their day time there. This new society will build up their way of thinking and way of...show more content...

2. A lot of private schools have policies about school uniforms. Heads of these institutions encourage students to be proud of their school. I think that public schools should try to get their students to be proud of them the same way.
a. I think that this is a good point to be proud of your school, because, if school is good, it is always pleasure to show your participation in school processes.
b. On the other hand it encourages students to reach new achievements, and to help you school to become one of the best in local areas if it is not.

The School Uniform Debate Essay
The requirement of school uniforms in our public schools is a big issue in our community. Among our teachers, parents, and students, everyone has a different opinion. School uniforms will help solve many issues inside and outside our school walls. For the students, uniforms will help eliminate the everyday worries of trying to fit in with other students, parents will not have to deal with the financial stress of buying fashionable and expensive clothes, and teachers will have a better advantage with providing a better learning environment with students more focus on their education, rather than what their wearing to school. Trying to fit in is one issue that students deal with at school, and requirement of uniforms can eliminate that...show more content...
The requirements of school uniforms will help not only the students, but also the parents. Parents can save more money buying uniforms rather than those expensive name brand clothes and shoes. The need to be a part of the fashion society associated with peer pressure can lead to spending money that some families can barely afford. On the other hand, some believe that uniforms are an unnecessary expense and can cause financial problems for families. If uniforms become a financial burden to families, there are many ways to help. According to the MPS uniform code, "if a sincerely held religious belief, disability, medical condition, financial hardship, or other extenuating circumstance prevents the child from being in uniform," there will be "countless assistance programs for low–income families to help parents keep their kids up to code" (Holyoke, 2010). Uniforms will help parents and educators teach the importance of dressing in a way that shows the student should be taken seriously. Providing students with uniforms will not only save parents money, but also help parents teach their kids valuable life lessons about presenting themselves in the correct way outside of school. Teachers have a goal of teaching students focused on getting an education, and allowing the requirement of uniforms will help teachers maintain a healthy learning environment. School uniforms will help encourage
Uniforms in School
The standard issue school uniform of khaki, navy and white once exclusive to the private parochial institutions is becoming a common requirement in public schools across the nation. This trend that was first suggested for public schools in 1980 by then D. C. mayor, Marion Barry, to help diminish the social stigma of low income students has grown significantly in both numbers and reasons (Lawrence, 2013). In 2010, it was reported by the National Center for Education Statistics, that nearly 19% of the nation's public schools now require a mandated school uniform (Campbell, n.d.). While there are quite a number of opponents to such a policy in the public schools, the benefits are numerous. Students following a school uniform policy are "less likely to focus on clothing as a means for determining status) and may experience less stress from being judged by the type or cost of clothing they wear (Campbell, n.d.; Cascio, n.d.). All too often society is judged and defined by the clothing of an individual from its style to cost to fit. By removing this outward factor as a labeling status, students are placed on a more even playing field leaving competitions for the sports fields rather than the classroom runway. Less classroom completion in fashion allows more time to focus on studies. School uniforms also helps to create a sense of community and belonging, much as a member of a sports team that wears a uniform might feel (Buesing, n.d.). A sense of belonging as a member of a
Should Public Schools Require Uniforms Essay
There are several reasons public schools should require uniforms. "School uniforms are one of several strategies being used by this nation's public schools to restore order in the classroom and safety in the schools" (Stanley, 2). "In addition to encouraging students to concentrate on learning, rather than on what to wear, uniforms can be social equalizers that promote peer acceptances, as well as school spirit and school pride" (Stanley, 2).
School uniforms make it easier for students not to worry about what the latest fashion style is and if what they are wearing is going to make them stand out. This will also stop gangs from flashing their colors and standing out within the school grounds. Even though the gang members know who...show more content...
Parents are worried that this may be an infringement on the students First Amendment rights. The fear of not being able to express themselves through clothing may lead to inappropriate hair styles and jewelry. They are not going to be prepared for the real world where they will be judged by their appearances.
With or without school uniforms we will continue to have problems in our schools but the uniforms help eliminate some of these problems. I went to a catholic high school and we had to wear uniforms and we still had fights, stealing, and bullying. We did not have to have metal detectors or security guards checking us before we walked into the building. The students came from all over the city and yes there were those who were in gangs but unless you made it known they could not tell by what we wore. In the long run it does help with costs when it comes to buying new clothes and shoes every year for the new school year.
We will never be able to completely stop the violence that goes on in schools or in society but we can minimize the violence in schools by wearing uniforms in schools. There are lots of ways to express yourself besides the clothes you wear. You can express yourself by writing, art, or even sports. Students may do strange hair styles and wear strange jewelry but at least they are not getting beat up for their clothes.

Persuasive Speech On School Uniforms
Have you ever had to wear a school uniform? Did you you love it, or hate it? I'm here today to explain my stance on school uniforms. I believe that having a school uniform would be a good thing for multiple reasons. The first being how it would completely and utterly eradicate the issue of dress code. The next reason is how it would be able to create a more focused learning environment by eliminating clothing distractions. The most important reason in my mind however, is how it could drastically increase student safety at school. Now I will go a bit more in depth as I explain these reasons...
As aforementioned, uniforms are very beneficial for a multitude of reasons. The first being how dress code issues are completely eliminated through uniforms. I mean, even here uniforms and dress code issues have been brought up a ton! I was in honors civics last trimester and we had to do an issue project about problems at this school, and how we could fix it. We had to present these things in front of Mr.Farley and a couple school administrators. Something that was majorly brought up was dress code, and how unfair it is between the genders. Think about that! Even here dress code is a big problem, and if it's an issue here, then imagine how bad it must be at some other schools.
Another big benefit to having a school uniform is the increase of student safety in multiple things. The first, is the reduction of bullying. This happens at schools with mandatory uniforms because it gives bullies less ammunition. Bullies have less ammunition because social status and wealth are not visible to other students because everyone is wearing the same thing. Another thing more broad than bullying is physical student safety. For example, at a K–8 school system in Long Beach,CA enforced a two year mandatory uniform policy and the results were staggering. Assault reports dropped by 34%. Sex offences got cut by a whopping 74%! Fighting incidents decreased by 51%, and vandalism dropped by 18%. It is crazy to me how much things can improve in just two short years by having kids wear uniforms. One more thing, is that it makes it a lot easier to identify trespassers. I mean think of all the school shootings that have
Supporting School Uniforms Essay
Socialization and You: Students in Uniform Uniforms have helped develop many children socially into the people they are today. Presented in argument form is how the role expectations, social control, and values of being in uniform have helped me succeed. Being in school uniforms at an early age has centralized me to this idea. High school was the first time without being in uniform for me. It was a culture shock. People made fun of what you wore some days, or would look at you wrong. You were no longer on the same level as your peers. It was difficult to fathom for me. Uniforms have their own subculture and are an excellent idea.
"The uniform dress required of all students is one of the most important features of the college. It insures...show more content...
By wearing a school uniform, one is not apt to get made fun of. Everyone is in the same apparel and can't scrutinize any part of another child's outfit. By feeling that everyone is the same, that is one less worry on a child's mind. This leaves more room for educational worries rather than individual ones. Socially this has sculptured me to realizing what is important. A Child's need to be fashionable brings along another dilemma for school violence. Children no doubt will envy other children's clothing and lack the financial resources to purchase similar styles. Subsequently, children have been violently injured or even murdered, in upper grades, for their trendy clothes, sneakers, or professional sport–team gear. "With clothing shown by music videos and television sitcoms, more children wear similar styles of baggy, oversized shirts and pants to school. Such clothing can become a means of transporting weapons or drugs into school and thus indirectly increase school violence"(King). School uniforms reduce these occurrences. The solution of school uniforms is a definite aid in decreasing a child's worries about getting harassed, and most importantly their safety. It particularly protects females because revealing clothing isn't an issue. These days' girls as young as ten are wearing provocative clothing such as mini skirts, tube tops, skimpy bikinis, and not
The Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms
Individuality is what makes a student unique, but with the introduction of school uniforms, they create militaristic ideals damaging the student's environment instead of promoting diversity. Some argue that school uniforms are beneficial to students and education, but a plethora of research shows that there are more negatives than positives. Among those are the lack of self expression in schools, the cost involved in having uniforms, the violation of rights and time consumption, and how there is no academic gain correlated to uniforms.
Middle school and high school students are developing teenagers beginning to find themselves as unique individuals. School uniforms rob students of the opportunity to self express. One article by Address More(2017), states that "uniforms are often criticised for promoting the uniformity that characterises militarism. Of superiority and dominating masculinity". Self expression is crucially important to the character development of students. Since school uniforms are compared to resembling militarism, it is clear that these ideals are detrimental to the development of creativity in teenagers. Though the idea of students choosing their own clothes may seem to have miniscule effects on teenagers' self development, it is one of the only ways students have the opportunity to identify themselves as unique individuals. Forest (2007) presents the very widespread student opposal to uniforms when he states, "Nearly two–thirds of the 1,183 students at Gildersleeve oppose uniforms. To them, uniforms represent an attack on their creativity and their ability to express themselves as individuals". School uniforms take away students' access to everyday creativity through their wardrobe. Not only do school uniforms demote self expression, prices to buy these uniforms are increasingly high. Not only do school uniforms restrict self expression, but they also tend to put a strain on low–income families because most schools do not provide the students with the necessary attire. According to School uniforms: Awesome–or awful?, Tarshis states, "some experts believe uniforms have drawbacks. Schools often require families to buy the uniforms, which can be expensive." A rebuttal for this would be
Essay on The Advantages of School Uniforms
Pants below waist, baggy shirts with sexist signs, and piercings, this is not a good view early in the morning. That's why the school should implement a uniform policy. Uniforms should be mandatory in school. Uniforms make the school appear more professional. Also with uniforms students won't compare themselves with each other. Moreover uniforms can help students save time. Additionally parents won't have to waste so much money on clothes hence will have a better budget.
A major reason that schools should have uniforms is because students will get along better. They wouldn't compare each other based on whose wearing what. This is opposed to a school with no uniform some students will feel inferior to the one's wearing brand name...show more content...
Students believe that the way they are dressed is more important than the grades they make. The students with less money, that can't buy all the newest clothes, tend to not go to school as much, because they won't fit in. There for students in schools with uniform will have more time to focus on more important things, like school work. With uniforms students don't have to go to the mall every week looking for new clothes to wear. Also if a school has no uniforms students will feel that they need to have a certain look to fit in, and many will be ridiculed if they don't achieve this "look."
Above all, parents are also impacted when schools require uniforms. If schools impose a uniform code parents won't have to waste so much money on clothes hence will have a better budget. For example a pair of designer jeans cost at least eighty dollars, with eighty dollars parents can buy two uniform pants, and three uniform shirts for the whole year. Especially how the economy is at its lowest point that it has been in years parents will feel the hit less if they don't have to buy new clothes for school every week. In a uniform school there are fewer clothes to buy, which helps parents spend less money. In addition, schools should enforce a uniform policy, because parents will have more money
Persuasive Essay About School Uniforms
The thought of school uniforms seems like an old–fashioned thing for many of us. Unless a student goes to a private school, it is usually not a topic brought within families. Yet throughout different countries, having school uniforms is normal. Students in schools that are required to have school uniforms usually do well academically and seem content in wearing the same outfit every day for school.
In recent times, debates have grown stronger with in schools and parents over whether or not school uniforms are a benefit to the students and their education. When budget becomes a problem the school board usually decides to cut off all ties from incorporating school uniforms. Most parents and students see uniforms as irrelevant and decide to...show more content...
Healthguide.org also states that it's true that children at school that are in uniform will feel like putting more work than if they weren't to have uniforms, that they would take their education as a joke. School uniforms show that having them actually help students to have a safer and positive environment and creates a good learning environment.
School Uniforms encourage students to become more aware of their learning skills. Students will sometimes feel as though they are not getting the most out of going to a public school. I learned about this opinion that people had this year when I got the chance to meet other students that were coming from both a public and private environment. I never noticed how opinionated students were until I asked one of the students I met "Did you learn more in a public school without uniforms or in a private a school with uniforms?" .
A way that school uniforms create good learning environments is by not having to worry about what they wear on a daily basis. Healthguidance.org states that it's true that children at school that are in uniform will feel like putting in more work than if they weren't to have uniforms, that they would take their education as a joke. Studies show that a slight improvement in the grades of students who wear uniforms happens. Without uniforms, students are often focused on what they
Should Students Wear School Uniforms?
School uniforms should definitely be used in school systems. Uniforms are both good for schools as well as for the students. Wearing uniforms will help build a sense of unity within the school. Instead of everyone as a separate team, everyone will be in the same team. Wearing uniforms will help free students of the stress of what to wear in the morning. Wearing school uniforms will help improve student individuality and improve their self–esteem. First, wearing matching uniforms can make students feel equal. Poor students would no longer feel excluded because they are not wearing name brand clothes like the richer kids. Kids sometime tease each other because of the brand of clothes that they wear. Not all children's parents are...show more content...
Social status will also be less of an issue because everyone would be wearing the same clothing. Uniforms will improve students' individuality because they will have to express themselves through their personality and attitude, rather than through a brand name pair of jeans or an expensive pair of tennis shoes. Wearing uniforms will allow the teachers to form a better perception of a student based on how they act not by how they dressed. Students social standing would be based more on individual character. Wearing uniforms will help improve a student's self–esteem because they will not feel pressured to dress a certain way. Students feel pressured by other students when they can't dress like they dress. If all students are dressed the same, everyone will feel equal. Second, wearing uniforms will allow more time for studying. Students will be more focused on their school work and homework. Wearing uniforms will allow kids more time to do their homework, because they will not be focused on trying to find the hottest outfit to wear to school the next day. Students spend too much time trying to put together the perfect outfit for school. Wearing uniforms will allow kids the opportunity to understand what is more important and that is the school work as well as the homework. If students would put the same dedicated time into their school or homework that they put into trying to find the hottest
Students Should Wear Uniforms Debate Essay
For years, there have been hundreds of debates about whether students should wear uniforms or not. Many schools agreed with the idea and have already required school uniforms, while others are still considering it. Some say that school uniforms represent discipline and instill school pride, but others think that it is not creativity and comfortable. Despite that there are still arguments about it; school uniforms have increasingly demonstrated their importance and influence in many ways. Students should have to wear uniforms because it will help students to perform better at school, give students a sense of discipline, lower the cost for parents, and decrease the rate of crime. Students who do not want to wear uniforms will give many...show more content...
While wearing uniforms, students have to obey and follow the rules, so they will learn how to respect others. An article reports "Teachers and principals often report that discipline problems are reduces in schools that implements a standardized dress program." (School Uniforms). In addition, wearing school uniforms is a step of preparation for professional life. When you have a job, you will have to wear uniforms. Whether you are a doctor or a nurse, you are in the same position. School uniforms also help students to realize that they are a part of a group, so they feel liked they belong and learn to take responsibility for whatever they do. Next, school uniforms will encourage the learning environment. If school does not require uniforms, it will take more time for students to decide what to wear for the next day. They will have to think so much about clothing, shoes, or hair. Therefore, they cannot use that valuable time to concentrate more on their studies and others activities. Uniforms remind them that they are still students and the biggest goal is to learn. This will motivate them to try their best to achieve the goal. When I was in Vietnam, all students were required to wear uniforms, and students were fine with it. They did not find any inconvenience or think that it prevented them from expressing themselves, because they understood that it would benefit them in different ways. In the
Persuasive Essay On School Uniforms
Introduction
In public schools, the prevalence of wearing school uniforms persists to rise in the USA, as school administrators and parents set forth efforts for making our schools a secure place for the children. However, making school uniform mandatory for all children do deny them their freedom of expression to dress in accord to their choices. Virtually 20% of all public schools in the USA have adopted mandates of school uniform. A survey conducted by the National Survey of School Leaders divulges Uniform Trends in 2013, reveal that there is a stable increase of formal dress or uniform code policies in schools. Leaders at the school who were surveyed infer that their existing uniform code policy had a major reduction on bullying by 64 percent and peer pressure by 86 percent (NAESP, 2013) So all public schools should adopt a school uniform policy as it provides a more secure environment in school and motivates students to concentrate more on studies and keep them away from various distractions
A lot of parents and school administrators suppose that uniforms generate an improved environment of learning at school. Primarily, a lot of schools administrators assert that students are not as diverted by how they appear, and as a result, consume additional time learning at school. The peer pressures of getting the latest fashionable dresses with the "topmost" brands are decreased, in particular when students may not wear uniforms made particularly from well known brand name
Persuasive Essay Against School Uniforms
Uniforms have swept through the world, taking over schools, and restraining students in outfit choices. Though many people are for uniforms, many, however, are not. With a constant debate on whether uniforms are needed, I stand objectified against the use of uniforms, because research proves uniforms have a negative impact. Not only are the students negatively affected by uniforms, but so are the parents. So why do administrators put such a restraint on the clothing students wear? The short answer; they want to eliminate many of the problems that come along without the use of uniforms. Instead, more problems were created in its place, yet school boards are still blind to the cries of those against it. With a world so against change, open mindedness, and lack of freedom, I plan to examine the 'side effects' of wearing uniforms. Research has shown uniforms are very costly, does not allow freedom of expression, and does not help in the long run to further a student's learning. School uniforms have proved to be very costly. Statistics have shown the average person spends 230 dollars annually on uniforms. A total of 1,300,000,000 dollars is spent in the United States every year on uniforms. Also, this has shown that third class citizens are "breaking the bank," for their child's uniform costs. The Guardian warns that a rising number of academies and free schools are piling on extra pressure as clothing grants are axed. As more state schools demand costly branded uniforms, poorer families begin to struggle. Many families also spend money on uniforms as well as their child's everyday clothing. This is a sign to show how uniforms affect your bank account negativity. Publilius Syrus once said, "a small debt produces a debtor; a large one an enemy." Hi–Line Online speaks of how administrators and parents believe uniforms eliminates bullying, but in its place there is a concern that students cannot find their own sense of style. In this case this can hinder how a student feels outside of uniforms. They begin to be used to 'fitting in' with everyone else around them, so when they try to explore outside of uniforms, it can be very difficult. The society we live in today allows this freedom, wearing whatever
Introduction:
Research question:
Do school uniform have an effect on students academic achievement ?
– What do school uniforms mean to students?
–What are the pros and cons of having school uniform?
– What is the effect it has on students?
This research starts with the hypothesis: there is no relationship between uniform and
student academic achievement. This main research topic is divided into three subtopics
above to address the main question gradually. The aim for conducting this research is to
seek out the thought of having uniform from student perspectives. It may be true that
uniform is seen as the symbol of the school and the identity of student; however, it
could just be considered as a set of clothes without any meaning.
Nobody asks for students ' opinion whether they want to have it or not. This study will
be a good chance to let teachers and parents pay more attention to what students really
want. A semi–structured questionnaire was therefore administered to ask personal
opinion from students of EF London towards school uniform. The findings will be
analysed and presented and it will be a precious opportunity to ponder what is the true
value and key function of the school uniform.
Literature review:
Some researches argue that uniform can create a better learning environment within unity;
nevertheless, the opponents claim that there is limited empirical evidence to prove the
effectiveness of uniform on student achievement.

School Uniforms Persuasive Essay
Today, many schools around the world enforce uniforms, requiring students to wear specific clothing. School uniforms, which was first established in 16th century England, are a topic of much debate in the public school system of the United States. Many people feel that uniforms reduce competition among students and bring a sense of unity in school. People who are against school uniforms think that they prevent students from expressing themselves and inhibits creativity. Many students dislike school uniforms because uniforms can be viewed as a violation of their rights, while others benefit from uniforms because it relieves the stress of picking what to wear to school. Although school uniforms do have its benefits, they also limit...show more content...
It is a belief that school uniforms teach students to respect their learning environment and behave themselves, and, therefore improving discipline. However, that assumption isn't entirely correct. Researchers have actually found that school uniforms don't make students better behaved. According to a study of more than 4,500 students, those who wore a school uniform did not have fewer behavior problems or better attendance. Forcing students to wear uniforms lead to more problems and misbehavior instead of encouraging discipline. Students could get into trouble if they did not wear their uniforms correctly. Many kids in today's society cannot stand the thought of someone telling them what to do, especially what to wear. Instead of encouraging respect, uniforms may cause rebellions. For example, in 2009, a group of students at John A. Ferguson Senior High School rebelled against their school uniforms. Instead of following their school uniform requirements, the students wore what they thought would be a better school uniform to school. Not only uniforms don't earn schools the respect from its students, but it may also lead to more problems. Some critics say that school uniforms increase the amount of clothing that parents have to buy for their children, meaning that they would have to spend more money. Students wouldn't wear their uniforms outside of school, so parents would have to buy casual clothing for their child to wear outside of school.
School Uniforms Essay
Schools should have uniforms for students so they can be distinguished between grade levels and to have all students dress the same way and offer some protection. Students might be against it because they want to wear regular clothes to impress other students. School uniform should be allowed in private as well in public schools because it will help faculty distinguish students, people and prevent inappropriate dressing.
"Having a uniform helps students and parents resist peer pressure. In schools with no uniform, children may feel the need to dress in certain ways in order to fit in. This can often mean buying a lot of expensive and fashionable clothes that families cannot really afford. It can also mean girls being pressured into...show more content...
Another good thing that will help them is if they go on field trips, teachers will not have trouble recognizing their students because they know how they are dress and what color of school uniform they supposed to have on.
It will also benefit faculty because they will be able to distinguish grade levels as well as students, in case of a fight or an intruder getting inside the school. It will also help if a student will decide to get out of campus, and decides to take a skip day this will help the faculty, and security officers distinguish or identify the kid and which grade level they belong to. They will also notice if some students are wearing gang colors or trying to form a gang in school. Even if they try to bully on someone just by the kind of shirt or pants they are wearing to school. "Only a few inner–city schools have had problems with children wearing "gang colors". Many of these have got rid of the problem not by introducing uniform, but by simply having a dress code which bans such gang clothes and symbols"(Debate, 2011).
Another reason uniform will help is by not dressing inappropriate because students now days express themselves by the way they dress this is why uniform is a must in all schools. First of all the uniform must be applied to the girls because girls now days dress very inappropriate they use transparent
School Uniform Debate Essay
"School Uniforms: Yes, or No"
The concept of having school uniform is a topic that has been debated fir any years. Some students find uniforms necessary, others just hate the colors. I think that the students who think uniforms are unnecessary are wrong. Uniforms are an excellent idea and can help school students be more disciplined, have an equal environment, and enjoy greater academics. School uniforms are a great way to maintain a level of social equality. There are more positive effects of wearing school uniforms than negative. School uniform makes student's lives easier because it eliminates the job of spending hours on picking out clothes for school. First, having school uniform maintains discipline in school. If students are required to wear school uniforms, then they will automatically dress appropriately. Some students hide weapons in their clothes, so if there is uniform, no one will be able to hide any weapon. Secondly, school uniforms create an equal environment. Uniforms eliminate competition. No student will be considered less important than the other. Staying out of uniform is not a problem for the rich students. If there is no uniform, children, who are rich, will wear brand name clothes and children who are poor will wear regular, simple clothing.
