Why I Learned For Writing An Essay
I learned a very broad variety of English skills in my English 101 class. From the time of doing research before writing an essay, I wrote from the reader's perspective, considering first what the reader would benefit from hearing. I discovered methods of writing so that the reader would be able to easily follow my ideas and notice the connection between them. Along with that, I learned to actively read what others wrote, alter my writing based off it, and courageously participate in the academic conversation. I acquired necessary language arts skills to participate in the academic conversation during my English 101 class.
When first writing essays, I learned to collect and introduce topical information in a way that would best benefit...show more content...
Also, I learned to better introduce topics to readers. Previously, I very much struggled with introductions, and because I didn't know which direction to take them in, I often ended up simply using them as a place to summarize my essays. Now, I have learned about and am able to use inverted triangle introductions. For example, when writing my persuasive essay introduction, I started out with a general sentence to grab the audience's attention, declaring, "When using the internet, people generally get a very personalized experience." Then, I went on to introduce the problem to the audience, telling the audience about why companies feel the inclination to use filter bubbles, however, also telling them why filter bubbles are harmful. Lastly, I stated my thesis, remarking "The American public should pressure companies to stop the filter bubble from causing a harmful effect that prevents people from taking part in community dialogue" (Persuasive Essay). Inverted triangle introductions give readers a better introduction to my essay because by the end of the introduction, they feel a strong inclination to keep reading due to interest in the subject and have a general understanding of the topic and my position on it by the end of the introduction. Therefore, readers are both inclined from the beginning to continue reading and can easily understand concepts when further reading the essay. Moreover, I learned to better write an essay that
Persuasive Essay On The Internet
The Internet should not be eligible to teenagers younger than thirteen–years–old. Parents must have a block on the Internet for their kids to keep them safe from talking to strangers on chat rooms. There have been many cases where they go and meet this "kid", and find out that they are an Internet predator. It's sad to see children so young thinking that they're talking to a kid their age, when in reality, it's somebody who wants to hurt them and take their innocence away. Parents and teacher need to work together to end this violence against social media. How can the Internet cause us harm? First, we look at all the possible citing on our social media and we discover the important facts that we have noticed, but never came across to it. Second, search for any suspicious messages lurking around in your child's inbox. Finally, call the police. One way to stop them is by calling 911. Now, I know it sound like I'm being very unfair here, but I'm not. I'm stating the facts about how an online predator can find me and hurt me. Do any of us have an idea that can persuade us to fight back against these predators? Most importantly, what can we do about cyberbulling? It's a disgusting way that teenagers can say anything about anybody and get away with it. This makes me furious about how many boy s and girls committed suicide and could not face the world anymore. One story that made me upset was the Suicide of Amanda Todd. She was a fifteen–year–old girl who committed suicide on

Persuasive Communication and
Effective Negotiations
Introduction
In business the most vital skill is communication. In a setting where ideas are the business, it is imperative to be able to communicate those ideas effectively. The most important part of communication is the persuasive message. Communication is defined as a process by which we give and express meaning in an effort to create shared understanding. This process requires a huge range of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, speaking, listening, questioning, analyzing, observing, and evaluating[1]. Use of these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that...show more content...
Before people buy into a suggestion they want to see that the persuader is flexible enough to respond to their concerns. Compromises can often become better, more sustainable, shared solutions.
3. Thinking the secret of persuasion lies in presenting great arguments. Great arguments matter, but they are only one part. Other factors matter just as much, such as credibility and their ability to create an equally beneficial position for themselves and their audience, (a win win situation), to connect on the correct emotional level and to communicate through words that makes arguments come alive.
4. Assuming persuasion is a one–time effort. Persuasion is a process. Common solutions are rarely reached on the first try.
Effective Negotiations
Effective negotiations are a method of working a compromise or agreement in which the parties to the negotiations try to achieve their goals in reasonable and practical manner through the process of give and take using effective communication.
Negotiation is a central activity of our lives. Knowingly or unknowingly we negotiate every day, with our colleagues, and bosses, family members, friends, strangers, and some times even with our–selves. We use negotiation to realize our expectations, to achieve goals, work out a problem or simply to avoid trouble. Sometimes we negotiate to assist others in resolving their problems. Negotiation is a problem solving
Persuasive Essay On The Internet
It can be considered as one of the most valuable types of technology. During the last several years we have come to be more and more dependent on the Internet and in particular moving huge chunks of data across large distances. The Internet allows people to communicate with each other across the world within mere fractions of seconds with the help of E–mail and Messenger. The Internet also allows for expressing opinions and obtaining up–to–date information from the world–wide–web. The new software is being developed every day which uses the Internet as the carrier for long distance voice calls and video conferencing like FaceTime and Skype, which would hold the key to the future of our society. Whether someone is sending e–mail, posting on message boards, or reading the news online, people are guaranteed the same freedom of self–expression that we enjoy offline. In other countries, the mere act of accessing websites that criticize the government is an offense that can land you in prison. Australia, similar to the United States, perceives and ensures a person's freedom of expression. Although, they have an alternate view on what is appropriate on the Internet. Australia has taken the position to confine adults privilege of the right to speak freely on the Internet, in order to avoid children for getting material that is esteemed unsuitable for minors. However, it also averts content considered "objectionable" to be uploaded on the internet, in this manner limiting the right
Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out these two semesters
Persuasive Essay On Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is a complex problem in society today. Addiction is a condition that extremely affects the person's mind and body. Addiction also has wide sweeping effects on that person's social connection and functioning. Unfortunately, many addicts don't realize the social influence of their addiction until much of their functioning has greatly deteriorated.
Addiction is a "chronic disease characterized by drug seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult to control, despite harmful consequences." The initial decision to take drugs is voluntary for most individuals, but frequent drug use can lead to brain alterations that challenge an addicted person's self–control and interfere with their ability to resist intense urges to take drugs. These brain alterations can be persistent, which is why drug addiction is considered a "relapsing" disease. People in recovery from drug use disorders are at increased threat for returning to drug use even after years of not taking the drug. It's common for an individual to relapse, but relapse doesn't mean that treatment doesn't work. As with other chronic health conditions, treatment should be constant and should be adjusted based on how the patient answers. Treatment plans need to be reviewed often and modified to fit the patient's changing desires.
Although it is true that for most people the initial decision to take drugs is voluntary, over time the changes in the brain caused by frequent drug abuse can impair a person's self–discipline and ability to make sound judgements, and at the same time create an intense impulse to take drugs. It is because of these alterations in the brain that it is so puzzling for a person to stop abusing drugs. Luckily, there are treatments that help people to neutralize addiction's powerful disruptive effects and regain control of their lives. Study shows that combining addiction treatment medications, when suitable, with behavioral therapy is the best way to ensure success for most patients. Treatment approaches that are custom–made to each patient's drug abuse patterns and any concurrent medical, psychiatric, and social problems can help achieve sustained recovery and a life without drugs. The alcohol abuse definition is similar
Persuasive Speech Templates
hey, that is Danny Hamil and i might like to share with you some tips on things you should do before you begin exercising. Joint anguish has a direct effect on nearly the whole lot that we do in our lives: whether or not it be a easy assignment of getting away from bed; and that can be a complicated assignment if you are bothered with joint pain, peeling a banana on your breakfast cereal, going for walks to the eating table, or jogging a marathon.
Joint anguish and arthritis, with it's many variations and names afflicts us as we age. We cannot discontinue the aging in years, however we do have control over lots of our body components and how they perform as we grow older. The substitute of getting ancient just isn't very attractive. I, for one, am no longer competent to take the eternal dust nap. Nor am I in a position to grow to be motionless; and, i am definite you aren't either. Undertaking is without doubt one of the primary things that we can do to stay active and cellular. I'm reminded of the old adage: the more you do the more you want to do; and, the opposite is true as good: the less you do, the less you wish to have to do. Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
Climate Change
Not everyone in the world has noticed that the climate has changed throughout the years. The negativity of climate alternation comes from pollution, weather, and temperature changes, which will endanger the earth. However, it's possible that some people in the world are willing to help; people are trying to decrease the chances of climate modification from raising. Even though climate change is very bad for the earth and toward humans, no one can put an end to this problem due to several causes which will affect us. Three different outcomes that surround the topic climate change comes from our human activities, environment changes, and human health issues. These are the reasons why it causes climate changes to create negative effects on the earth.
Greenhouse gases are the reason why climate change has affected the environment for many years. Changes that can happen in the environment could be how cold is the temperature today, how much sunlight is being produced during the day or is there enough clean water. The environment gets affected when "the atmosphere traps the heat radiate into the Earth toward space" (NASA 1). When that happens the environment will change the "impacts on human systems which involve food production, local livelihoods, and health" issues (Environment and Climate Change Canada). Different type of effects that can happen to the earth could be "sea levels, droughts, floods and other extreme weathers, climate change ecosystem and extinction threats" (Greenpeace International 1). Other living things such as insect, bird, or plant will be extinct or will move to different places in the world and this will affect human health issues (National Geographic 1). These issues will cause trouble to the earth's environment, and it's not possible to know when the problems will turn more worst. Ice melting from the Arctic has increased, due to climate change and it will harm the polar bears, seals, and penguins (National Geographic 1). My grandmother has grown vegetables in her backyard, and as the climate changes, this affects the growing process of the food. In the summer when I go outside the temperature has increased from the radiated of the sun shining towards me.

Persuasive Essay Introduction For Euthanasia
English 1009–39
Oct. 24, 2017
Euthanasia/ Assisted Suicide
Introduction:
Euthanasia, or assisted suicide, was legalized in six states in the US. It gives terminally ill people the power to exercise their right to life, die with dignity, not pay for expensive treatments that won't work, and most importantly it stops their suffering. Yet people argue, doctors should keep patients alive and depending of their religion some don't believe in euthanasia. Most Americans are open minded therefore, they should be more accepting towards this proposal. People should use their voices to legalize Euthanasia throughout the United States not just in six states. It makes it easier for those people with no hope to end their suffrage as well as, keeping their families from debts in the future.
Body: In the American constitution, under the fifth amendment, all people in the United States of America are given the right to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness (Constitution). Given the right to life and the pursuit of happiness makes performing assisted suicide an empowerment for patients to execute their rights. If a patient is suffering, miserable, and they are going to die; why not let them decide whether or not they want to have euthanasia? Isn't prohibiting assisted suicide taking their right to life and the pursuit of happiness? It is wrong to have a someone alive that does not want to keep living because they are drowning in their misery. The fact they have to wake up and have in their minds when they die must create some damage to their mentality. Not everyone with a fatal illness is as strong enough to continue with their day on day life. Then again there must be a stronger strength to those that have the tendency to end their life before the illness does. They let go When Jerry Brown passed the Right–to–Die bill in California; Los Angeles Times pointed out that," Many Oregonians who asked for and received their prescriptions never actually used them. But that doesn't mean they weren't grateful to have the choice" (procon.org). Having an incurable patient obtain the choice of living their last days or ending melancholy will always be a risky situation, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be taken away.
Informative Essay On Stress
Stress is quite prevalent today. Although you may feel like you're alone when the feeling of panic strikes, rest assured that this isn't true. It has you living in a continuous stress of heightened awareness that isn't good for your heart or blood pressure. For this reason, you really need to find healthy ways of combatting the stress you face in your life. Take Time for Self Care Self–care is the number one best way to destress today. There are many great ways you can do this, including: Take time to meditate or do yoga. Doing so changes your brain's neural pathways so you're more resilient to stress. This is especially true when you focus on a positive mantra, such as "I love myself." Take some time to get together with your friends and do something fun. Share with them what's going on in your life. This gives you a new perspective on your issues too. When you only have 10 minutes to decompress, put a warm heat wrap around your neck and shoulders, close your eyes, and relax. Once you remove the wrap, try rolling a massager over your back and feel your tension melt away. Head to the gym daily. While this may seem like a lot, but Fitness Magazine says you should do 30 minutes of cardio exercise every day. This includes anything that raises your heart rate, including running, brisk walking, swimming, and biking. You should also do strength training at least twice a week such as squats, push–ups, lunges, weight training, planks, and jumping jacks. These release feel–good chemicals in your brain that help you deal with stress. When you don't have time for these things, park further from a store, take the steps instead of the elevator, or go for a short walk. 5 Minutes to Decompress Stop saying you're stressed because you don't have enough time to decompress. Language Arts Skills During My English 101 Class
I obtained a very broad variety of Language Arts skills in my English 101 class. Upon starting this class, I assumed that this would simply be a class to get everyone at Highline College, a diverse college with many people who have English as their second language, the ability to write structured essays about what they've read. Although this class certainly did do that, it also did much more to increase students' language arts abilities. I learned that despite writing normally being a solitary activity, someone generally writes to participate in academic conversation. Moreover, to participate in the academic conversation, they need to be able to read analytically, connect their ideas in a way that would make sense to others, and relate...show more content...
The reason that I went through these processes was to have strong supporting evidence as illustrations to my points. Selecting evidence that illustrates my points allowed me to later explain these points and why they mattered in a way that would connect well with my thesis. Also, I learned to better introduce topics to readers. Previously, I very much struggled with introductions, and because I didn't know which direction to take them in, I often ended up simply using them as a place to summarize my essays. Now, I have learned about and am able to use inverted triangle introductions. Persuasive Essay: The Pink Tax
The "Pink Tax," the bane of women everywhere, and especially in corporate America. Women's products and health lies in the hands of corporations who charge more for products geared towards women than their male counterparts. This is usually by a few cents on the dollar, but keep in mind that women are paid less than men. So, this can add up over time, and cause many frustrations. How can we see this sort of discrimination first hand? Well, head to your local superstore, and check the toiletries section. The same manufacturer of razors, with the same amount of blades, will charge more for the pink women's razors than a man's blue razor. Shampoo and deodorants also show these same patterns, although they do have slightly different ingredients since men typically don't wish to smell like roses or some sort of candy. Clothing is also a great example, because men's fabrics are thicker, more durable, and usually cheaper. Women's T–shirts and underwear are usually thinner and will wear out from wear or wash. Women's jackets are thin, and usually require more layers to keep warm, which leads to more spending. Condoms are freely given out at rallies, concerts, schools, and online, yet you still need to make sure you keep some quarters on you if you happen to start menstruating in public.

Bills are already in the works to include sanitary napkins as medical devices in order to be exempt from tax. New York has had an uproar earlier this year over the unfair taxes. People who believe that the Pink Tax is a myth propose women buy men's products. This is very feasible, but not all women want to smell like a man and be forced to buy their projected items. I believe that including sexually biased laws and taboos should be included in sexual education, so everyone will understand the common problems of women. Without better education on women's biology and prejudices, we can't hope to have laws work for

Persuasive Essay on Abortion
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; "The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth." These pro–life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro–life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro–choice.
Pro–choice...show more content...
The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she'd be finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the pregnancy. Pro–choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body.
Even though these "Pro Life supporters" think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off than where they would be if she would have just kept it? You have to deal with the emotional circumstances after an abortion for a while but you have to deal with not knowing what the child you gave up has to go through on a daily basis everyday of your life is a lot harder than the emotional toll of an abortion
Even though many people practice pro–life because of their religion, it may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do
