From the time of birth, images of physical perfection bombard young minds. When children are young their minds are fragile and mold to what they are taught. Many feel that self–esteem is something that only teenagers worry about but self–esteem is something that has to constantly be taken care of. So instead of letting nature run its course woman all over North America run to the doctors for major surgery. A face–lift is the most common plastic surgery among older woman. Argumentative Essay On Plastic Surgery
Plastic Surgery
Plastic Surgery has become a worldwide epidemic in today's world. The number of plastic surgeries continues to increase since 2010. In today's day and age, plastic surgery is one of the most popular and requested procedures. Females are opting to have plastic surgery because they dislike their body image. Society has impacted many people by brain washing them to believe that a person's body has to be perfect. In order for one to be considered beautiful, television and media influence people's perceptions of beauty.
The definition of plastic surgery can be resumed as the process of rearing parts of the body. This process is typically recognized by the transfer of tissue, either in the treatment of injury or for cosmetic reasons. When idealizing plastic surgery, majority of the people think of it only as a change of personal appearance. For example, breast augmentation or liposuction. Plastic surgery aides people who have gotten burned, by replacing the burned skin with other tissue from another part of the body.
Usually, plastic surgery can be associated with individuals that tend to be self–conscious or have low self–esteem. Acquiring cosmetic surgeries can significantly boost a person's confidence and self–image. Normally, beautifying procedures are seen to improve psychological damage. Plastic surgery can be beneficial for mental health. Although this may be true, plastic surgery has become an addiction. The perception of beauty should not be held at the hands of surgery.
The motives behind surgery can vary; it can go from the removal of birthmarks and unattractive looking scars, to the riddance of breasts deformities. Recently, a study showed, how "Reconstructive breast augmentation is generally performed to correct asymmetry caused by congenital errors, trauma or disease, Poland's Syndrome and tuberous breast deformity" (Singh, 58). Normally, woman with breast deformities, such as, large breasts or cysts, deal with many problems like pain in the back, shoulders, and loin. In this types of situations, breast reduction helps reduce the pain while helping them fix their posture, and allowing them to live a normal, fulfilling life.

Why Is Plastic Surgery Wrong
Plastic surgery has been a hot button issue in recent years because of the debate of how far procedures can and should go. TV shows like "Botched" highlight how plastic surgeries can go wrong and make someone look fake, but that is a rarer scenario than media perceives it to be. Because of media's prevalence in our lives, we often see plastic surgery as fake and those who seek it faker. Not all the people who seek plastic surgery are doing it in vain. They often are seeking to better themselves. The truth is media pushes a negative impact on the perception of plastic surgery and the hides benefits plastic surgery can have.
Celebrities like Ariel Winter from ABC's Modern Family face ridicule within the plastic surgery debate as described by Winters in an interview with Glamour magazine. Winter, at the age of 17, faced societal pressure to do something about her size F breasts. She described her situation in the eye of the media as having "so little to wear that's age–appropriate" which would lead to backlash for dressing too maturely in form fitting clothes. Social media has its own mockery. Winter described it as "The Internet bullies are awful. I could post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am and that I am disgusting". Winters felt as though the media targeted her based off of her appearance rather than her accomplishments as a young actress. This behavior by media is troublesome because it leads to people outside of high publicity
Essay On Plastic Surgery
When I was ten years old, I was told I had to get plastic surgery. I was terrified and immediately burst into tears. I didn't get upset because I was scared, but rather I thought that undergoing plastic surgery meant the doctor was going to cut a piece of my body out and replace it with plastic. I thought I was going to be part Barbie. I eventually came to terms with this crazy idea of mine only to learn plastic surgery was nothing like that. This is where my interest in becoming a physician began. Prior to this, I had not had much exposure to healthcare, but that all changed very quickly.
I was allergic to the post–surgical medication and it caused me to break out. Thus, I spent many nights in the emergency department and a lot more time in my doctors' offices than I would have liked to at that age. By the time I was twelve I had already been a patient of a plastic surgeon, dermatologist, pediatrician, endocrinologist, and I was about to become the patient of an oncologist. Routine pre–surgical blood work came back abnormal and due to my family history, I was immediately sent to an oncologist. The reason for my abnormal results that day was never found out, but I am very fortunate I had nothing wrong with me. At this point, I realized that when I grew up I wanted to be a physician. I wanted to be the person that helped so many others like myself. I felt, at the age of 13, that I owed my health to these physicians and that it was my duty to give back.
While in college, I
Plastic Surgery: A Debate
1. Supporter: Plastic surgery is probably one of the most important technologies developed in the recent years, considering the numerous benefits that it provides people with. Image is everything in the contemporary society and it would be unfortunate if some nature prevented some perfectly capable individuals from properly integrating the social order. Also, we mustn't forget about individuals who perform plastic surgery because they were either born with an abnormality or because they suffered an accident (Panjari, M., Bell, R. J., Fradkin, P., Davis, S. R.). These people find it very difficult to be accepted and thus need to focus on removing some of their imperfections with the purpose of being able to succeed. Surely, society is unjust, but considering that one of the only solution is to join the social order in appreciating particular values it would be wrong for someone to deny themselves the right to look better. Opponent: I agree that the present–day society greatly emphasizes the importance of physical appearance, but social acceptance is not the only method to build self–esteem. A healthy society also appreciates its members as a result of the way that they think and as a consequence of the way that they act. You can observe that a great deal of successful individuals is not necessarily physically attractive. Does this mean that these people should have been demoralized as a result of their looks and refrain from pursuing their dreams at the moment when they
Plastic Surgery Helps Self-Esteem Essay
" To men a man but a mind. Who cares what face he carries or what he wears? But woman's body is still the woman. "(Bierce,1958). People nowadays want to be more beautiful and perfect. They will do anything to fulfill their needs. Cosmetic surgery is modern variation of a practice as old as humankind. Every culture has some customs that prescribe deliberately changing a body's natural appearance (Brain, 1979). The methods, however, are diverse and particular to a culture at a specific period of time. The body customs may be merely decorative, if not, most have social significance. For certain culture and religion, the body modification is used to communicate power, group membership, individual status and social identity. Until now, the...show more content...
Besides that, most people are going for cosmetic surgery because they have the urge to be better accepted by the society. Aristotle's belief that, "Beauty is a greater recommendation than any letter of introduction" remains as true today as in ancient times. The favourable expectations experienced by attractive people make physical beauty a goal for many. The rewards of attractiveness even begin at birth since parents are more affectionate and attentive with attractive babies (Langlois, 1986). For some people, looking old is not an option because staying youthful is the priority for their career such as those who are in the entertainment industry. For some, it is just for personal pleasure and satisfaction.
The pursuit of beauty is a big business in modern societies. Americans spend 20 billion dollars annually on products advertised to enhance appearance. Yet, for many, this is not enough. Dissatisfaction with personal appearance is widespread, particularly among women. Surveys indicate that one–half are unhappy with one or more aspects of their bodies (Cash, 1997). While dissatisfaction with owns beauty is the main reason for the rise in popularity of cosmetic surgery, but it is also causes consecutive reasons for its growth. As the demand is getting higher, the industry is getting bigger and clinics are springing up like

Many people say that anything that is original, is the best, whether it's the flavor of chips, the first movie, or even the first original book. However, the problem is that people do not think the same for human beings. More specifically, people disregard their own image and rather desire to change who they were created to be. The importance is that plastic surgery has been destroying the physical and mental existence of human beings. As our society continues to expand and advance within our technology for the "better of the world", more people are tempted and exposed to fixing who they are within their originality. The father of the young girl Linda, Fernando said that Linda came out of the clinic worse than ever, and that the pain that he and his wife are going through is indescribable. Not only has the pain affected the person herself, but to her loving family who cared so much. Such risky cases of plastic surgery is not worth a try in the first place, and should be avoided for cosmetic purposes. Another factor hindering humans to deviate from cosmetic surgery is, realistically, the cost itself. While there are plenty of urgent and prioritizable operation to hold for people who cannot financially afford, the mindset of people paying the amount of a full tuition to college to have their faces or even parts of their bodies beautify is socialistically not acceptable. A new report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) found that Americans spent $16 billion on cosmetic plastic surgery and minimally invasive procedures in 2016 (Health day 2017). From the most "trendy", or most wanted procedure held in America, breast augmentation of more than 290,000 procedures at a cost of about $3,700 each, to Tummy tuck –removes excess fat and skin– almost 128,000 procedures at around $5,800. The skin of the upper eyelid tends to droop with age. This problem also can be corrected with a laser–assisted upper eyelid lift. Laser eyelift surgeries usually involve little bleeding and bruising, and usually requires a short recovery period. In the United States 26.2% of Americans ages 18 and older suffer from depression(Styles). With a quarter of the country down in the dumps, what could possibly help lower that percent? The answer is plastic surgery. If you have a great confidence and a high self esteem, why would you be depressed? You wouldn't, so therefore plastic surgery could be one of the leading factors that lower such a high percentage of depression in the United States. Perhaps we should cover what has been mentioned in this paper. So far we have covered that plastic surgery not only makes everyone feel better about themselves, it also lowers the depression percentage of America, which in return saves lives (Kessler). So with you feeling more confident and more outgoing, your ability to get dates would be much better.
