Using Tone To Change The Rhetorical Situation
Using writing identities using tone can shift or change the rhetorical situation. Using tone to change the rhetorical situation by changing the way the reader interrupts its. Using tone can also move along the story line. It gives the story more definitions then have just one tone throughout the whole story. The author talks about the way tone shifts or changes in different rhetorical situation, I think that it is true. Using tone changes the way people react to what you say. To me the tone is hat makes the story. Without tone or any type writing device the story would be boring. Tone has ways to change the story, the way to enhance the characters, tone is to tell either or out if the character are sassy, confident, shy, mean, etc.
The Use Of Tone In Poetry
People show their love in a variety of ways. The two poets have two different tones with one being joyful and other condensing using his attitude and writing techniques to express love for the women they adore.
The first poet has a joyful tone when expressing his love of a woman. The poet describes the woman's teeth as "pearls" symbolizing beauty and purity of the woman. Also, using diction such as "a treasure" the poet is expressing a valuation of the woman's worth to him. Moreover, the evaluation continues with specific features of her body being compared to rubies for her lips, eyes of "saphyres", sapphires, and "locks", hair to gold. Throughout the poem the poet description of his the woman is a bundle of good things. Predominantly
Tone in Sylvia Plath Poem
Tone in "Mirror" by Sylvia Plath
In "Mirror" by Sylvia Plath, the speaker is represented as a mirror that reflects the life and actions of another human being. The speaker develops a casually detached tone right from the beginning of the poem, but also portrays an accepting mood by the end of the work. These tones and moods are expressed through the use of diction, punctuation, metaphors, and imagery. The tone of this poem fluctuates and makes it difficult for the reader to grasp the emotions of the speaker due to the fact that it is a very short piece.
The first stanza of "Mirror" starts off extremely straightforward and detached from any emotion. The speaker says, "I am silver and exact."(1) "I have no preconceptions"(1). These first...show more content...
The women that bends over her comes to her daily, just as most humans use a mirror daily, and "[searches her] reaches for what she really is"(11). The metaphor of a lake comes in when the speaker begins to describe the women's actions through imagery. The women tends to cry, "rewards me with tears"(14) and use hand movement, "an agitation of hands"(14) most likely in rage or disapproval of herself in front of the mirror. Line 14 uses diction that many would connect with one looking at themselves in a lake/water reflection. The speaker reveals that the women comes back daily and sees in her "she has drowned a young girl"(17). This description of action resembles the use of mirrors by people to find themselves and see in them what others do not. Many women use the mirror to help cover up flaws or to stand in front of and use as an accepting net while they cry or release emotion. In this piece the speaker is standing as an accepting item for this women and knows just what is behind this women's life. The speaker states " each morning it is her face that replaces darkness"(16). This use of imagery helps readers envision a women stepping into a mirror in the morning and facing what life has to offer that day. The speaker metaphorically being a lake and describing events through the poetic device of imagery helps create a tone of acceptance by giving the speaker a sense of attachment to someone and makes the stanza

The Art of Arranging Tones into Music
Music is defined as "The art of arranging tones in an orderly sequence so as to produce a unified and continuous composition" (Webster's II: New Riverside University Dictionary). A few tones that pair up in harmony can do wonders to anyone. A person's preference in music may show up in the way he/she looks, talks, and acts. Not only does music shape a person, but it also shapes the norms of society. Music is shown throughout the chronology of life, from infancy to adulthood, music has a big impact to us, mothers and their lullabies, children and their nursery rhymes, and teens that have songs to help show who they are when they are in their awkward phases transitioning to adulthood. Believe or not, a few musical notes with a great tune can affect a wide variety of people; Music defines an individual and society through trends, influences towards behavior, and what society claims as normal.
Music has an influence toward our behavior. Music is powerful at the individual level because it can induce multiple responses – physiological, movement, mood, emotional, cognitive and behavioral (David Francis, The Performing Right Society). If a person has been bullied, there are songs that can change the way they feel through music and inspirational lyrics. An example of a song is "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera; this song shows us that no matter how different we are, no matter what people say, words can't bring an individual down, because everybody is beautiful in their own image.
Compare And Contrast Tone
Comparing and contrasting the two songs "Pretty hurts" by Beyoncé and "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera has its similarities and differences, along with different perspectives of the audiences. With different tones, moods, and purposes these songs have a huge impact on society for defining the word "Beauty." In both songs they target two different audiences. One audience has difficult with insecurities (Pretty Hurts) while the other audience doesn't believe they are beautiful (Beautiful). The purpose in both songs have the same meaning they both want young ladies or males to feel better about themselves and not allowing anyone to judge them. They also should try and stop changing their appearance to impress society. The tone of the song
Persuasive Tones
Tone is a very important part in writing essays, letters, articles, and even ads. There are many different tones you can use in your writing. If you are writing an argumentative writing then tone can either strengthen or weaken your argument. For example these two sixth graders named Dave Kessler and Janet Chen, wrote argumentative letters to their schools editor about ads in their schools. Dave Kessler chose to use a persuasive tone in his letter, saying that he thinks ads in schools should be banned. This strengthened his argument a lot because he needed to get his point across. For example, " Advertising may allow a school to get a brand new scoreboard, books or band uniforms, but the price students pay is too great"(Kessler 1). With
A Rhetorical Analysis Of Tones And Identities
Tones and Identities
In "Issue 3" of Writing Identities, it is discussed that people change a part of themselves when they are put in various rhetorical situations. In my experience, this is clearly true. Years ago I had gone to the U.S. Senate and found myself changing between a simple eighth grader to a sophisticated citizen. There was something about being mature and listening to a senator that was so boring. What I'm trying to say is that I felt the need to act differently due to what I was surrounded by. Though it is not something I like to do, as Writing Identities says, you must adjust accordingly to the audience or people around you. I remember going to a couple of conventions not too long ago, and each time I had cosplayed. I'd put
Academic Tone Examples
The tone of a paper is often the reflection of how a writer feels about the subject they're telling an audience about. Academic tone is a formal way of writing and uses the third person perspective. In third person perspective you should never use personal pronouns and try to rarely ever use the word "you." Academic tone also requires that one does not use slang words, jargon, or abbreviations in their writing. It is intended to be serious and informative to the audience. An example of this is when someone writes a letter to his school's principal about improvements that should be made to school events. This person wants to sound formal and well–mannered rather than informal and ill–mannered, and they also want their approach to be respectful
Tone Analysis
Tone: imaginary, naive. I will create this tone using the main character's imaginative view of what's going on around her and the descriptions that show that things are different than she sees them.

We go through our usual activities, like story time and fingerpainting. I get another paint splotch on my shirt right next to the one from last week and the week before. They make a pretty pattern, but Ms. Tracy doesn't seem to like it a much as I do. Pretty soon it's snack time, my favorite part of the day! Ms. Tracy always gives us apples and orange slices. I slip two extra apples in my bag. I do that every day, and I don't think she minds because she never says anything about it.
At the end of the day, I say goodbye to my friends and walk home. I let myself in through the unlocked door. I wave to Mama, who is sitting at the table and reading another newspaper, and leap over the obstacle course on the floor to get to the couch and grab for the remote to turn on the TV.
For dinner, I eat the apples I brought home from school. I'm suddenly interrupted by a loud ringing at the doorbell. I jolt off the couch and shut off the TV. Who could be at the door? Nobody ever rings the doorbell. Papa and I never lock the door because we can never find our keys. Mama's inside, so it can't be her. Nobody else ever comes over. I drag a chair over to the door and stand on it to look through the peephole. There's a stranger outside. She stands tall and is wearing a professional looking blazer like those lawyer ladies on Suits. I have to clean up! One should always clean up for guests. I look around from my perch on the chair, looking around
Essay on Use of Tone in Literature
For example, if the events that took place in The Things They Carried were described in a newspaper, we might understand what happened, who died, and what was statistically important, but we probably wouldn't be told why certain things happened, how people felt about these things, and what emotional toll the the soldiers endured. In this particular story, tone acts as spot light which illuminates the informational aspects of the literature. In other words, due to the casual and personal tone of this particular story, certain things must be said; we the reader must be privy to certain thoughts and feelings of the characters in the story; this information is neither granted to us, or expected from us when we pick up a newspaper and read...show more content...
We can see tone in literature in the same way it is heard in music. While different instruments are able to play the same notes, the tone of an instrument gives the notes character and texture. This is the difference between one of Beethoven's symphonies played on a cell phone compared to a violin – the basic notes are there, but tone breathes life into them and gives them meaning, thus making them perceptible not just as frequencies, but as music.
In the Death of a Salesman the importance and meaning of the story goes beyond "salesmen dies in car crash." The overall tone of the play, as well as the tone of each character in the play, is crucial in helping us understand who and why these people did what they did. Willy Loman's ramblings and hallucinations have a wild and disjoint tone that serves to inform us of his mental state, fears, feelings, regrets, and emotions. If the content of his hallucinations were presented directly as background information, or as a coherent dream sequence, we would not understand Willy in the same way. It is not just what Willy says, but how he says it that gives us such a clear picture of how far down he has fallen and just how bad things are for him. The contrasting tone of Willy's wife helps to make Willy stand out even more. Similarly, the tones taken on by Biff and Happy reveal that they represent the two sides of Willy – a realization not easily determined by the

Tone In The Classroom
Throughout my paragraph I used different tones for each paragraphs. In some paragraphs I use a tone that is amiable to many people. For example, I use an amiable tone when I talk about the person who has inspired me and gave me positive influence. I also use anaphora throughout my essay when I compare the two classes I use to be bad in and how I have improved throughout my highschool career. I compare how I did in my science class and history class in my past years to how I did this year. When I mention in my essay that I do not like tennis, but it is a popular sport, is an example of Antanagoge because I criticize tennis, but compliment the sport. Tennis is a really fun sport to play, but it is just not a sport for me. Even Though I did not
Examples Of Tone In The Classroom
The teacher sets the "emotional framework" in the classroom by the use of body language, tone of voice, facial expressions, and verbal and nonverbal communication. It sets the tone when the teacher comes into teaching and learning. Children are very sensitive when it comes to adult moods and attitudes. The teacher mood and tone reflects to the classroom. Children will see the tone of voice and mood the teacher shows. When giving out calm and confidence of tone to the classroom, then the classroom won't be out of control. It is based on how the teacher's tone is giving out to the classroom and the children. When the teacher gives out happy facial expressions the children will realize that the teacher is happy with the children's surroundings.

Thomas Hardy Neutral Tones Essay
Neutral Tones
In the poem Neutral Tones, Thomas Hardy describes the end of a relationship. Neutral Tones was written in 1867, and was included as part of the collection Wessex Poems and Other Verses. The poem is presented as a dramatic monologue that reflects Hardy's pessimistic and depressed views, which are shown throughout many of his poems.
In stanza 1, Hardy describes the scene, whilst not describing the lover that he is with. The neutral colours 'sod' and 'gray' expresses a sense of bleakness and reflects Hardy's bitterness towards the incident. The poet describes dead leaves lying on the ground from an ash tree, which reinforces the bleak scene. Ash has multiple meanings, referring to the ash tree, the grey substance that is a product of combustion and human ashes from cremation, reinforcing the idea of death and of neutral colours. In addition, the poet describes the sun as 'white, as though chidden of God', instead of the normal descriptions of the sun as being bright and yellow. This further contributes towards the sense of bleakness in the scene....show more content...
The words 'tedious', 'lost', 'bitterness' and 'ominous' convey a bleak tone of death and depression. The first and second lines of the second stanza: 'Your eyes on me... riddles of years ago' reveals that the couple have had many similar arguments without any progress over the years. Furthermore, while smiles are normally associated with happiness and pleasure, Hardy describes the lover's smile as 'the deadest thing / Alive enough to have strength to die', suggesting that their love has become meaningless. Hardy compares the lover's grin to an 'ominous bird–a–wing', which symbolises Hardy's lost

Using Tones Through My Own Experience Analysis
Mini Essay: Using Tones Through My Own Experiences
"I'm sad!" says the person in a happy manner with a huge smile on their face. Now what's wrong with this sentence? If an individual were sad, they would not be shouting that out, especially not with a smile on their face. So what would need to be changed to make this rhetorical situation make sense? The tone of course, so let's try this again. "I'm sad..." says the person burying their face in a pillow. Now that's more like it. I knew I wasn't going to go in there saying "Howzit braddah I like one job" because that kind of tone is informal, and most times in an interview people want to have a very formal and professional tone when they speak. Speaking with a formal tone in an interview portrays confidence, respect and professionalism, which is definitely something that should be shown while trying to get hired for a job. From speaking in a professional tone, yet still completely being myself, I was able to get hired. After getting hired, and making friends around the job I began to shift my tone to a more informal setting. I would speak to my co–workers in a more informal tone because the rhetorical situation has changed and I am no longer speaking to someone with high authority. I am able to dial down the formal tone, while still being professional at work. Tones change constantly every day throughout different situations that people face. It's important to know the difference in tone and to know why tones change. Another reason why a tone might change depends on whom you are speaking to. In my case, when speaking to my manager I spoke to him with a formal and respectful tone because he is a person of high authority, but when speaking to my co–workers I'm able to speak to them informally because they are now my friends. Tones shift for a reason and it's our job to recognize
