Persuasive Speech Outline
Topic: Organ Donation
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to donate their organs and tissues when they die and to act upon their decision to donate.
Thesis Statement: The need is constantly growing for organ donors and it is very simple to be an organ donor when you die.
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Attention material/Credibility Material: How do you feel when you have to wait for something you really, really want? What if it was something you couldn't live without? Well, my cousin was five years old when he found out he needed a new kidney. He went on the organ waiting list right away. He was called twice during a six month span that they had a kidney available only to...show more content...
2) The reason is that there are only on the average 6,000 donors nationally per year (Life Source: Statistics).
c. You can choose to donate any needed organs or you can specify which organs or tissues you wish to donate.
2. Organ donation is very important.
a. The following poem by Robert Test entitled, "To Remember Me," shows the importance of organ donation.
"Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain... Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk...Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that, someday, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window
b. Not only is this a problem nationally but also it is a big problem right here at home in Colorado.
1) Nationally, there are over 120,000 people waiting as of November 1, 2011. As of November 7, 2011, there are 1,142 people from Colorado that are on the organ waiting list (Life Source: Statistics).
2) The sad part is that there have only been 137 donors in Colorado so far from January 2011 through November 2011 (Life Source: Newsnotes).
[Transition: I'm sure that you can see the need for people like you to donate your organs. But you might be asking, well, how can I make sure my organs are donated after I die? Let me tell you.]

Persuasive Essay On Mandatory Volunteering
Would you consider volunteering a passion? Will you consider volunteering more if you knew it was for your grade? "One very specific reason to tie volunteer work to education is that teen volunteers are more likely to succeed academically than teens who don't volunteer" (Paragraph 5). To help a teen to be good for society, schools should make volunteering mandatory. Mandatory volunteering is seen as a good thing for teens because they´re helping the community. However, volunteering is when you decide to do something good to help someone out of the kindness of your heart but most teens don't want to and don't even think about it. When it comes to mandatory volunteering for teenagers, the argument goes for volunteering the Point article, "Give Teens Some Work to Do! It's Good for Them and Everyone Else" by the Studysync Curriculum because of its effective use of research and quoting professional organizations.
The article "Give Teens Some Work to Do! It's Good for Them and Everyone Else" by the Studysync Curriculum is the most convincing because it uses the argumentative strategies: effective research and quoting professional organizations. Firstly, an example of a strategy that makes this article more convincing us the effective research the article provides. " Finally, the United Way says that volunteering improves people's health and helps to make a difference in someone's life" (Paragraph 4). In other words, it is better if the volunteer hours are part of teens school curriculum. This makes a convincing argument because it states the research they found and also includes a professional organization which proves someone professional proved it . This helps to make the argument convincing because most people will rely on professional statements and if they are proven by someone that did the research and studies it which means they know a lot about that.Additionally, another strategy that makes this article persuasive is the article quoting professional organizations. "Back in 2005 , a collaborative study conducted by the corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S Census Bureau revealed that students who do better in school are most likely to be volunteers ¨ (Paragraph 5). In other words
Non-Profit Organizations Essay
In today's world there are hundreds of thousands of non–profit organizations (NPOs) established at the local, regional, national and international level, and their influence is increasing. Non–profit organizations even considered the third sector of the economy (the first two is the public and private, or commercial). It is believed that they have a special role in development of civil society. In those countries, which have largely shaped the system of legislative regulation of the sector (USA, UK, Australia, etc); the state spends huge sums on research programs in the field of standardization of the NPO.
Non–profit organizations do not belong to the commercial sector or the public sector, but occupy an intermediate position. It gives...show more content...
The main purpose of commercial organization is to earn money for its owners. The NPOs can't have owners, as this entity is intended to serve the population, and the law clearly defines that the property (with the concomitant extraction of private benefits) is incompatible with serving the public interest. ## So non–profit organization is the organization that has no profit as the main objective of its activity and doesn't distribute the profits among the participants. This doesn't mean that non–profit organizations can't make money, but the money should go to public purposes for which organization was created. These funds can also be set aside for future programs or transferred to other organizations working for the benefit of society. In this way the NPOs can engage business activities: to produce goods and services, acquire and dispose of securities and property and non–property rights, participate in the economic companies and limited partnerships as an investor.
NPOs may be designed to achieve social, charitable, cultural, educational, scientific, management objectives, in order to protect public health, development of physical culture and sport, to meet the spiritual and other non–material needs of citizens, protection of rights and lawful interests of citizens and organizations, dispute resolution and conflict, legal assistance, as well for other purposes, aimed at achieving public benefits. However, in the UK is not allowed the
Persuasive Essay On Freedom Of Speech
Freedom of speech in America is defined by the right to express any opinions without any censorship or restraint. But it isn't just defined by the words people speak aloud. It's the actions they take part in to support the words they express. The writing of books and essays, creating artwork, giving speeches to grand crowds, voting, protesting. But do all people have the right to speak their mind? Should people be able to speak freely, to express opinions and thoughts, as promised in the United States constitution? A controversial topic, with many different opinions weighing in from around the world.
Speech is expression of thoughts, through many different actions. Some include writing, artwork, speeches, protests. On occasion in speaking...show more content...
With all these truths, and the freedom to speak them, comes the question of who should hold the power and ability to speak their minds. In the United States, our society believes everyone should have the right to freedom of speech, to voice thoughts and opinions. Written down in the constitution is the promise to citizen rights, to all peoples who want to exercise those rights. "It was we the people; not we, the white male citizens," who built up our nation and society, and the promise to freedom of speech (Anthony, par. 4). Women, children, teens, those of color should all be able to speak freely, to give shape to the opinions they hold like all the empowered men that speak freely. Not all governments and nations feel the same about this. In Singapore, they have their "own standards of social order as reflected in [their] laws" (Reyes, par. 3). Different nations feel differently about human rights and laws as presented by the United States, including freedom of speech, whether it is safe for everyone to speak their minds or just best to keep it to those who are fed lies from those of a higher position.
With freedom of speech can come violence, a common reason for nations and governments to deny this right. Some societies, such as Singapore, agree that by enforcing certain laws that abide the government keep said nation "orderly and relatively crime–free" (Reyes, par. 3). Freedom of speech can also mean

Essay on Charity
Charity A Charity is an organisation that exists to enable one group of people to help another. It can sometimes be for animals or nature. Many of the best known charities were set up by people who felt passionate about a situation that they believed was wrong or preventable.
There are 180 thousand charities in the United Kingdom alone. The idea of charities is to do away with the problems they were set up to tackle. They would prefer not to have to exist at all. In the United Kingdom it is easy to create a charity to do what you think is right. You can raise money and get involved in your...show more content...
However, this does not solve all the problems of the world. So some would say, why bother trying? On the other hand another way of thinking about it is – just how bad would the world be without that money helping out? The government donates money to the charities from us, the taxpayer and for many people they like to know where their money is going. Many charities are involved in improving the lives of people around the globe. There are, however always lots of cynical people who knock charities especially if the money is not spent in our country, believing that 'charity begins at home'. Many charities in the United Kingdom do help the local people from homelessness to cancer relief, but recently international aid – helping others in different countries is one of the most hotly debated areas in the voluntary sector.
The aid agencies actions and their attachment or lack of it from governments are all under scrutiny. International aid agencies attract more donations than any other charitable cause bringing in £486 million in 2001–02. This beats donations for cancer, children and animal charities.
So how do charities use their money? Charities usually need money for three things. Firstly, the largest part of any donation goes to the cause or group for which it was
given (usually around 80%) this will pay for the people, food, medicines
Community Service Persuasive Speech
General Purpose: To persuade the audience that community service should be implemented into high school requirements.
INTRODUCTION
Attention Gainer: According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, San Diego's homeless population is the fourth largest in the United States (Schroeder, 2015).
Reason to Listen: As you will soon see, there are easy steps that we can all take to help this growing problem in our community.
Speaker Credibility (right to inform): I was in an organization called National Charity League which allowed me to volunteer around my community throughout high school and I have also researched about how beneficial community service can be.
Thesis statement: To persuade the audience that there should be a required amount of hours that a student needs to volunteer before they can graduate high school.
Preview your Main Points: Many students do not volunteer because it is not a requirement and therefore are uneducated about the benefits of volunteering. Creating a mandatory amount of hours a student needs to complete will educate students about the benefits of volunteering as well as benefit their communities.
II. BODY
Main Point # 1 (Problems/Harms) (this should be a full sentence) Many students are not motivated to volunteer and therefore in times of need like right now, do not know how to help.
Information (sub–point): Volunteering is becoming less common and therefore our communities are not receiving as much support.
In Srebro's article, she states that "volunteer rates have been steadily declining for over a decade" (Srebro, 2016).
Information (sub–point): Because teens are not required to perform community service, many do not get into the habit of volunteering so in effect are less likely to volunteer in the future.
"Fifty–four percent of adolescents who performed volunteer service in high school volunteered again 2 years later" (Planty & Regnier, 2003).
Information (sub–point): With all the natural disasters occurring across the county whether it be hurricanes or fires. We need volunteers and donations now more than ever.
TRANSITION STATEMENT: Volunteering is becoming less popular because many people never volunteered when they were young so they did not get

Effective Negotiations
Introduction
In business the most vital skill is communication. In a setting where ideas are the business, it is imperative to be able to communicate those ideas effectively. The most important part of communication is the persuasive message. Communication is defined as a process by which we give and express meaning in an effort to create shared understanding. This process requires a huge range of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, speaking, listening, questioning, analyzing, observing, and evaluating[1]. Use of these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that...show more content...
Before people buy into a suggestion they want to see that the persuader is flexible enough to respond to their concerns. Compromises can often become better, more sustainable, shared solutions.
3. Thinking the secret of persuasion lies in presenting great arguments. Great arguments matter, but they are only one part. Other factors matter just as much, such as credibility and their ability to create an equally beneficial position for themselves and their audience, (a win win situation), to connect on the correct emotional level and to communicate through words that makes arguments come alive.
4. Assuming persuasion is a one–time effort. Persuasion is a process. Common solutions are rarely reached on the first try.
Effective Negotiations
Effective negotiations are a method of working a compromise or agreement in which the parties to the negotiations try to achieve their goals in reasonable and practical manner through the process of give and take using effective communication.
Negotiation is a central activity of our lives. Knowingly or unknowingly we negotiate every day, with our colleagues, and bosses, family members, friends, strangers, and some times even with our–selves. We use negotiation to realize our expectations, to achieve goals, work out a problem or simply to avoid trouble. Sometimes we negotiate to assist others in resolving their problems. Negotiation is a problem solving

Persuasive Essay On Foster Care
Foster Care, the Need for Change
Since the 1970's, many debates and arguments have formed over the problems in the Florida foster care system. Some of the arguments were made as to whether different races should become foster families or whether or not is was suitable for gay couples to foster children. Another issue that arose was the children with special needs or older children that people didn't want. As the foster system grew, it began to experience setbacks. There were now more children needing homes than available homes. The foster care system became full of problems. Foster parents started to complain about not having an adequate support system. The children were not receiving the medical treatments they needed. And foster children were staying in the system so long that some were aging out. Those that age out a were not receiving any support or training to cope with adult life. There was also a shortage in funding. In addition, there had become an alarming number of child abuse and neglect cases within the foster families. Although some aspects of foster care have improved, some changes still need to be made.
By 2017, the foster care system has made vast improvements to the program. According to Denise Webb, Unit Manager for Families First Network in Pensacola, "There are more
Douglas 2 outside agencies that now work side by side with Foster care to assist when needed." (Webb) Some of those agencies are Guardian Ad Litems, to speak on the child's behalf in their

Persuasive Essay On Care For Veterans
Throughout history, many veterans suffer after fighting in wars, and millions of veterans have been killed or injured. Veterans do not necessarily get the treatments they deserve without paying a price. Taking care of veterans costs a lot and health care is needed for them. They need health care after serving, in order to treat their problems and injuries. Jobs are also important to veterans because they are jobless after fighting in wars, which leads them to be homeless. It is important for people who need help to get help. As of right now, the government has attempted to help veterans, but it may not be enough. The government has a major role in giving veterans care. There are many organizations and programs for veterans. The government helps veterans by giving them health care, but they do not help veterans with jobs. Although there are many support groups for veterans, it is an example of a small problem due to the fact that there are millions of veterans in need (Carter). The government is unable to fix some problems, but it has continued to increase the amount of money that goes into caring for veterans. The VHA is funded differently compared to something like Medicare. The amount of money spent for veterans would change if the veterans that need more help receive more help (Golding). As the number of veterans rise, the amount of money to take care of them would also increase. The government's role in caring for veterans is important for them because they have risked

Persuasive Advertising
As stated in this statement marketing is often understood to make people buy things that they don't need, want and can't afford. Marketing does take a big part in why people buy things, but the one thing that it doesn't do is force people to buy a product. In fact, it is illegal for salespeople to mislead people into buying a product or service. I am going to focus on the advertising in marketing as the amount a product is advertised in the media is going to drive and individual to make a purchase.

Shock appeal is often used in the hair and beauty industry to advertise their new product on the market. These companies portray how nice a product looks on a model when in fact the products won't look the same on most consumers. Companies advertise their product as the best on the market, showing how good it looks on a glamorous model used. One thing the company doesn't advertise, for example when a company is advertising mascara is that the model will be wearing false eyelash inserts thus making the public buy the mascara thinking their natural eyelashes will look as fabulous by using this product. Big brands use celebrities to promote their products which will see an increase in sales through people buying the product following their celebrity idol. This could be seen as unethical as it's making the public buy a product they don't necessarily need but think it must be good if a certain celebrity is using the product. L'Oreal uses shock appeal and celebrity endorsement to maximise their sales. Cheryl Cole a very popular celebrity was used in a television advert and actually appeared on the can of volumising hairspray. Aimed

Persuasive Speech For Raising Minimum Wage
Raising Minimum Wage
Specific Purpose: I want my audience to understand why the minimum wage must be raised.
Introduction
I. How many of you can actually say you are paid what you are worth at your current job? Or if you're not working, at the last job you had?
II. I am almost sure that not a single person sitting here would say no to getting paid more. Is this true?
III. As a college student and minimum wage worker, I became interested in finding out why working a full–time job still made it extremely difficult to pay my college tuition and personal expenses. After thorough research, I found that the answer was minimum wage.
IV. Today I will be speaking about the problems with the established minimum wage and the benefits of raising it.
Body
I. First, I will address issues with the current minimum wage.
A. One problem with the minimum wage is that it is not high enough to allow people to afford housing.
1. According to an article from the National Low Income Housing Coalition, an organization advocating for affordable housing, to afford a two bedroom house in Florida, an individual must work 102 hours per week.
2. Now let's say you want to live alone in a single bedroom house. They state that at the current minimum wage, a person must work two full time jobs to be able to afford it.
3. The National Low Income Housing Coalition also states that people living in West Palm Beach, the second most expensive Floridian city with respect to housing, must earn $26.35 per hour, work forty hours a week, fifty–two weeks per year, to afford a two bedroom home. That number is about three times more than Florida's current minimum wage of $8.10.
B. Another problem with the minimum wage is that it is not high enough to allow people to afford every day essentials.
1. Housing costs is only one part of what an individual must worry about, other expenses must also be accounted for. In a survey by Oxfam America, a global organization to end the injustice of poverty, sixty–six percent of US workers earning less than $10 an hour report a difficulty in allocating the money to pay for basic necessities such as food.
2. A livable wage covers expenses such as food, clothing, transportation, and healthcare, and child care. In a 2015
Persuasive Business Messages Essay

BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Why is it important to present both sides of an argument when writing a persuasive message to a potentially hostile audience?
It is important to present both sides of the argument in a persuasive message to a potentially hostile audience because one has to try and avoid angering the audience even more. What one aims to do is to persuade the audience and let them know that they acknowledge the audiences view on the matter at hand.
To show that one acknowledges the audiences view, one needs to catch the audience's attention this can be done through addressing their side of the argument letting the audience know that their point of view has been taken into consideration and then explaining to...show more content...
By stating ones side of the argument one can then explain how the decision made may help or aid the audience in the future therefore it may help increase the audiences desire to change their view on the matter which will more likely lead to a more positive response from the audience than hostility.
After collecting all the information on the topic of the matter at hand one can now formulate a way in which they can convey the message to the audience without aggravating or offending the audience. The way in which the persuasive message is to be conveyed should be convenient and most reliable to one's audience.
The message has to be written in simple language so that the audience does not misinterpret the message or be offended by the jargon used.
Grammatical mistakes have to be minimised in the construction of the message so that the message comes across as having been carefully thought through. It should display good intentions and must not be blaming to the audience but in fact it should help establish a common ground between you and the audience, which will in turn help the smoother flow of communication and understanding between the two parties.
Once the message has been created and proof read one would find the correct and most effective way of sending the message to the audience. Face to face is usually best as it allows one to see the audiences' immediate reaction to one's message and if misunderstandings
Persuasive Essay On Community Service
Every Sunday, I have the opportunity to help as a child care worker in my church's nursery; and every week, after spending just one hour watching over the kids so that their parents can go to service and not have to worry about their children, I remember exactly why I spend my free time helping others. The term "Noblesse Oblige" is why I choose to be involved in multiple childcare opportunities and community service clubs. I believe it is my job to make sure those who are less fortunate, or in need of aid, get the help they require and deserve. I take part in different aspects of community service because it helps better my community and makes me a stronger leader.
For the past three years at Liberty High School, I have been a member of the Key Club community service organization. As a member of this club, I am able to help with different jobs around the community that help the people in our town specifically. For example, every first Wednesday of the month I go and help with a project called Snack Pack. During this time, about fifteen other kids and I prepare three weeks worth of food for seventeen high schoolers in our school district. These are kids that do not have enough money at home to always have food on their table. Snack Pack plays an important role in their lives because without it, they would not always eat. These kids deserve the chance to live their life and go to school without having to worry about whether or not the will eat dinner that night. That is why I value my role in this club so much, because I know what we do makes a difference. When the kids collect their food, they are able to relax a little more knowing that their family will be able to eat. Another aspect of Key Club that I take part in is Fairy Tale Forest, held at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary. Every year, the weekend before Halloween, I volunteer, with a handful of others from the club, to go and work at the children's fairy tale nature walk. The past two years I have been a runner. This means I do the odd little jobs, like run food and drinks around to the different characters that are working in the trail, that would otherwise be forgotten or not done at all. Although this is a small role, it is what helps make
The World Wildlife Fund ( Wwf ) Essay
Media Audit The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has launched several campaigns in the past few years, all focused on several endangered species and natural habitats to try and save the extinction of the planet's biodiversity. Although WWF has had success in their campaigns and received a plethora of positive feedback, the non–profit organization has also received negative comments in the media. Strengths Goals. WWF's work has evolved from saving species and lands to addressing the larger global threats and forces that impact them. Recognizing that the problems facing the planet are increasingly more urgent and complex, they have refined the way in which they work around a new, ambitious strategy. Their new strategy puts people at the center and organizes their goals around six key areas: marine, forests, wildlife, freshwater, climate, and food. By linking those six areas in an integrated approach, they receive better leverage for their unique assets and direct all the fund's resources to protecting vulnerable places, species, and communities worldwide. In the WWF's Manifesto campaign, the organization states that even the most ordinary people have an impact. From the government to large corporations, WWF demonstrates that with the start of one person any goal can be achieved. An article from Spiegel, an English based magazine, said: "Even with the littlest impact from someone is still an impact, and WWF finally recognizes that it only takes one person. Goals start with one
Persuasive Essay About Food Bank
Food banks are a terrible solution to a terrible issue. Hunger is one of the biggest issues the human race experiences. One in nine people in the world, or 795 million people, out of the 7.4 billion people go hungry every day because they do not have enough to eat. Every 10 seconds, a child dies from hunger–related diseases (The Hunger Project, 2017). The way lots of organizations try to help these people in need are through food banks. A food bank is a non–profit, charitable organization that distributes to those who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger. Food banks are inefficient in aspects of time, money, and effort because so much more can be done through donations of money, not non–perishable foods and items....show more content...
Another issue arises though, it needs to be transported from the warehouse to the appropriate drop–off place, which is most likely in a high–density residential area, not an industrial area. The time it takes for all this to happen is simply too much and non–efficient. We are in an era where time is valuable. Everyone is so busy with their lives, be it for work, school, family, or hobbies, it is unnecessary to spend all this time just to donate something that not even the buyer would eat. To show an example, let's say a donator's name is David. David works a 9–5 job which pays $20 per hour and has three kids, two of which have swimming practice after school. David picks up his kids at 5:30, and goes home right in time for dinner. On his dinner table, he has high quality foods that are packed with nutrients. David remembers there's a food drive raffle near his workplace that is looking for donations for a chance to win a grand prize. David now has to go out of his way to go to a grocery store to buy non–perishable foods. Instead of wasting his time going, he can go to the food bank and simply donate money. If David was planning on spending $5 and 45 minutes for the whole process, from purchasing the items to dropping them off, he actually spent $20 plus a few extra dollars for gas. Instead of wasting 45 minutes of his time to get $5 worth of food, he could easily have donated $25, which go a long way. This will be explained later, but
