Treatment of Subaltern Agony in Mulk Raj Anand's Untouchable Mulk Raj Anand's first work Untouchable pointed out the subjugated sections of society. The concept of untouchability began with Hinduism. Usually, the Brahmins, the upper classes dominate the lower class people. The concept of untouchability puts into action mainly on lower caste and class. During the first half of the twentieth century, Mulk Raj Anand played an important role to bring India's controversial issues. The 'Untouchable' is a unique experiment in the art of fiction by its concentration on a single day's experience in the life of its hero. Anand's achievement in the novel becomes more striking when we think that the hero is a sweeper boy of just eighteen years of age. He was a member of the untouchable community whose life is nothing but uneventful to an ordinary observer. The novel becomes a great work by drawing into its world the life and culture of a whole...show more content...
He feels deeply hurt by the degradation which he is subjected by the caste system. Throughout the day, insult and humiliation make him restless. Sometimes he gets irritated and tries to revolt against the dominant society. But his rebelliousness looks ineffective and fruitless. Hence, Indian caste system is one of the major factors to foster social dominance, social inequality, injustice, exploitation, racial discrimination, socioeconomic marginalization, intolerance and subordination of minority cultures. Bakha, the protagonist suffers morally, socially, and economically. The exploitation of simple or ignorant people, the blood sucking high castes, especially custodians of religion, in the form of a priest, etc. is really heart–melting pictures. The Dalits, who are brutally tortured by the upper class considered to belong to the lowest among them. Bakha's sister, Sohini, adopts the role of a 'submissive', 'patient', and 'peaceful'
Humanism In Agunpakhi
Ordinarily, Humanism does not believe in destiny or fate that intervenes and determines human affairs. Instead, it always advocates the application of science in human activities and promotes a scientific spirit of free enquiry into religious and ethical questions. In Agunpakhi, the narrator brings out the facts of how prejudices dominate the common life in society and how people helplessly surrender to an imaginary existence of destiny. In Pre–Independent period, People in rural areas of Bengal were too indifferent to the application of science in their day– to–day lives, and accordingly made their lives miserable. The value of a life was unknown to them and death was, no matter of regret as it was a habitual incident in their lives. People were far from the cocept of...show more content...
Kattama, the landlady of the Roy family brings a jewelry box and winks another woman to decorate newly married Agunpakhi with the ornaments. She addresses the narrator as her own daughter–in–law and advises her to look after the new family. The narrator is stunned to see that Kattama(the land lady), in spite of being a Hindu, regards her husband as her son and yet, does not touch her head at least for once to bless her. She is well aware of the fact that after their departure, Kattama will replace her present dress and will wash her body appropriately. Vivekananda used to hate this baseless zombification of Hindu primacy on untouchability than having probity on humanity. To him, God is one and he is the creator of all. He criticized those people who say, 'Don't touch me, I am holy'. Simple rural girl Agunpakhi, perhaps, knows nothing about Vivekananda, but her common sense of humanism gets struck at this attitude of the Hindu landlady. Her simple, innocent punch in the narration of the episode can hit any tawdry conservative mind
Accountability in the Military Essay
Accountability
What is accountability? The Army definition is: The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is concerned primarily with custody, care, and safekeeping. However, the way I see accountability is the responsibility of keeping track of the equipment or personnel assigned to you. Accountability is a big thing in the military because it ties in with responsibility and duty. That obviously makes it an important topic, no matter your rank. No...show more content...
Every morning we have a formation at 0630 for pt. However this formation is also used for Non Commissioned Officers to get accountability of their soldiers. This allows the Non Commissioned Officers to know which of their will be in today, which have appointments, and which will be out for various reasons, as well as informing the First Sergeant of this information. This makes sure that no mistakes are made later in the day like a soldier getting yelled at for not going to a detail when the soldier was actually on quarters. A situation which would end with counseling statements and possibly an article 15 all due to a misunderstanding. Keeping accountability for all of the gear signed off to your squad or platoon is also a large task faced by Privates, Non Commissioned Officers and the Officers who lead the platoon.
Keeping accountability of not only people, but equipment helps cut down on waste. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to replace all the equipment and people lost if leaders simply never noticed they were gone and constantly had to replace them? It would bring the amount of money the military would require to operate up by millions, if not billions of dollars. This kind of increase would tear our military apart from the inside out, imagine how many more soldiers would be getting kicked out, after all the Army is already

"It isn't where you come from; it's where your going that counts," stated a very wise woman by the name of Ella Fitzgerald. This may be hard to believe but even people with great success like...show more content...
At an early age, Fantasia was a victim of rape and divorce. She pursued a music career in her small town of North Carolina but found that she just did not stand out from among the other teens. With low self–esteem, it was not long before Fantasia fell into the wrong crowd and found herself a seventeen–year–old, pregnant, illiterate, high school drop out. Fantasia faced a lot of criticism when she was considered for America's idol, but she did not let that bother her and continued on to become an idol for those who like her have come from a hard background. Like Helen Keller once said, "No Pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed to an unchartered land." Fantasia Barrino has proven that "life is not a Fairy Tale" but you can sure make it one.
It is not just celebrities that can overcome a troubled past and live up to their potential it is also people just like us. It is all about strength and perseverance, believe despite the odds and what others say. To find success in the outside world you must first find it in yourself. In Ella Fitzgerald's own words, "Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go
Essay on Identity
Identity is a state of mind in which someone recognizes/identifies their character traits that leads to finding out who they are and what they do and not that of someone else.
