What is Leadership?
Leadership is defined as the position of a leader, the ability to lead. I assure you it is much more then that. Being a leader is not easy, I have learned from personal experience. Being a captain of a football team is hard work. It takes guts to stand up and be a leader. Leadership is respect. Respect by others. You can't force people to respect you; you've got to earn it. A good leader earns respect from his, or her, peers. They know he is their leader and when he tells them to do something, they do it, and they respect his position. A captain deserves respect from his teammates. The respect your team has for you helps drive your team to do their...show more content...
When he yells, he strikes fear into his comrades. Along with leading by example, a captain should be able to speak up. When a teammate is harming the team he should speak up and let them know to stop what they are doing or to leave. A leader shouldn't be quite and expect people to listen and follow them, he needs to speak up and take action.
Finally, Leadership is work. A leader works harder than anyone else and they know they need to do so. A captain knows that he has to push himself to work above everyone else. He should run faster, hit harder, and block better than anyone else on the team. If a captain works harder than anyone else, then everything comes together. He earns respect; he takes responsibility, and leads by example. Believe me, being a leader is not an easy job. If you can accomplish all these things then you can be a true leader. From my own experience, being a captain is not easy. Even I struggle with these qualities. The pressure of being a leader of is overwhelming, and takes hard work to accomplish. "Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile," by Vince

A Sense of Humor Humor is the tendency to look at things from a lighter side. It is a way that makes something funny or amusing. It is the ability to recognize, appreciate, or talk about what is hilarious or laughable. Humor is the source of laughter and the substance of smiles. Humor is the flash that illuminates our eyes as well as the cause of uncontrollable tears that never gets old. Humor is a state of mind. We all have a tendency to respect a cunning sense of humor as the distinction of a person who is kind hearted and nice, someone people feel comfortable around. They can usually be the "life of the party" we always want to invite or the friend who always has a joke to tell. Everyone

Music
Music; Indefinable by words alone. It is not only something you can hear but what you can feel. It is something your soul is able to reach out and touch. Music also has the power to bring us as humans, together. It is one language spoken by all cultures, sexes, races, age and religions. Music also controls our emotions; it makes us happy, sad, angry, relaxed, etc. We also can express ourselves through music. It can affect our personality.. someone who listens to classical, like Mozart or Bach, all the time is going to be smarter and more intellectual than someone who listens to rap or metal, and someone who listens to more upbeat happier music, like Ska or Swing, is more likely to...show more content...
This can be overwhelming to the listener. Knowing when and how much to utilize silence is part of listening, one of the key skills of any musician. "Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean it's not music"
Music is respect. Respect to ones self and to others, whether it is someone that has the same taste in music as you, or someone that has the complete opposite taste as you. That's something I see happen way to much, people bashing on other people because of what they listen to. Instead of accepting that everyone isn't going to like what you like. Music is supposed to be something we all have in common, it's supposed to bring us together and create peace, not turn us against each other. It's something that we all do, including me at times. Not only in music but in everyday life.
Music originates from all over the world since the beginning of time. Complex or simple, fast or slow, loud or soft. It's what you feel. It could be your method of escape or keeping you living. Music is love. Music is passion. Music is unity. Music is emotion. Music is belief. Music is beauty. Music is life. Music is perfection. Music is imperfection. Music is peace. "Through music we can live forever."
"That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you." –The Shawshank
Definition Essay: Racism
Definition: Racism
Racism is the unequal treatment of the human beings on the basis of their skin color. Racism is believed to have existed as long as human beings have been in the world. It is usually associated with the skin color of a person, which makes one be distinguished from a certain race or community. The word racism happened to be common in 1600s due to the enslavement of the Africans by the Americans and Europeans. One of the common examples of racism was Americans' discrimination against the Africans during the early 1600s. Though it is believed that slavery has existed since ancient times, the most outstanding one was the one practiced by the Americans. In our daily lives, one may note that some activities tend to favor some people or a group that is dominant in a certain area. This can be considered institutional racism. According to Memmi (2000), institutional racism usually aims at barring anyone from interfering with the advantages of the dominant group in a given geographical location. The best example of this kind of racism was the Apartheid in South Africa. The British tried to protect their lavish lifestyles by preventing the Africans from attending the same schools with them. In addition, the Africans were not allowed to use the same roads or eat in the same cafes with the whites. Lastly, there is also new racism. Fredrickson (2003) considers new racism as covering the cultural matters. The belief that a certain race has a culture which is superior to that of another race is termed as new racism. Some communities may view the cultural practices of a certain community as inferior to theirs. Concerning this, they try to colonize the others through assimilating them into their culture. Culture is also concerned with the way people dress. In conclusion, there is an opinion that racism has existed since the BC era. Despite this, it is believed it actually commenced in 1619 when slavery arose in the US. During this period, people were enslaved and discriminated on the basis of their color type. However, there are different types of racism, and they include new racism, historical

Definition Essay
Forgiveness by the World English Dictionary is the "act of forgiving; state of being forgiven, disposition or willingness to forgive". But what does it really mean? That is my question. Is being able to forgive and not forget the same thing? In my life, I have found that true forgiveness is a quality that separates us from other species and it is what makes us human. In order to truly and sincerely forgive, one must, aside from saying they have forgiven the person, let it go and not hold a grudge against that person. Just, as Mahatma Gandhi once said: "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." I believe that holds to be true.
Only a humble human being can attain the quality to completely...show more content...
I found that I forgave easier or not depending on severity of the circumstance and on the person whom I was forgiving or not. I believe it is easier to forgive an enemy than a person you love because a loved one are not supposed to hurt you in any way. I realized that those who I care more cause the most pain.
When I was a child, every time I saw my mother crying and hurting from all the abuse induced by her husband, the person who was supposed to protect her, I ask God, why? I never received an answer. As the abuse continued and life went on, I was never able to forgive him for the suffering that he caused not only to my mother, but to me as well. I was carrying all the miseries from my childhood and taking out on the people who love and care for me. There was no closure for the pain and suffering. The only person that I saw comfort and security from was my father, a man who never allowed me to pity myself or blame myself for other's actions. He was always there for me until my eighteenth birthday when he decided that I was "old enough to be on my own;" it was his own way to attempt making me independent. Everything became blurry at that point in my life. There was nowhere to turn except the only person who had the opportunities in her eighty years to master the meaning of true forgiveness: my grandmother, Consuelo, which her name literally means to console. Living with her and listening to her life stories allowed me to comprehend
Extended Definition Research Paper
How can writers compose successful extended definition essays? Definition essays needs to explain a word's exact meaning versus the meaning used within a culture. Authors must use a dictionary definition, comparison and contrast, and examples within a definition essay. Narcissist – Give It a Rest, lacks a dictionary definition, but it does have other key elements of a definition essay such as comparison and contrast, and concrete examples.
A definition essay needs a clear definition as a basis. Chapter twelve of the Brief Bedford Reader states, "Stating such a definition is often a good way to begin an essay when basic terms may be in doubt." In Daum's essay, she explains narcissism, but doesn't use a definition from the OED. If she had used
Definition Essay: What Is A Hero?
"What is a hero?" The word hero can mean whatever a person wants it to mean. Many people define a role model or person they think is a hero out of their occupations. However, a person does not become a hero because of their occupation or what they do that we envy. A hero is a person who takes a bold step or achievement that requires courage, bravery and a kind heart to do it, and the act is normally done for others. Heroes are not heroes out of their occupations like a doctor. For example, a doctor's work is to save lives, so when they do this, it is what we expect of them. If a doctor saves a drowning child from a swimming pool, he becomes a hero. The doctor demonstrates an act of bravery and courage for the child. So a hero can be any person with or without an occupation, who performs a bold act for others. A hero just has to be someone to sacrifice something for others. Heroes can come from anywhere. Heroes do not have to do action acts such as saving a person. Heroes can even be from acts of kindness. Some...show more content...
A hero goes through many difficulties in a journey that poses so many dangers of failure. Many people in such situations would give up and turn back. However, heroes persist on despite challenges and difficulties. Heroes are ordinary people in difficult situations that require courage and even raise fear in them. However, they manage to overcome their fear in order to persist on until they accomplish their mission. The difference between those who become heroes and those who do not is their courage to face difficult situations and never giving up until they accomplish their goal. Their courage allows them to persist on with any challenge that comes their way, despite standing a slight chance of winning. They take up the slim chance and manage to use it to their advantage until they achieve what they intend to achieve for
Definition Essay Topic Of Anxiety
I chose the topic of Anxiety because I am very familiar with the disorder. Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. That is what google says anyways. In my perspective anxiety is a pain in the you know what. It is not knowing what tomorrow will bring. It is overthinking every little tiny thing. It is not being able to walk up to the table full of girls because what if they hate you, or what if the world blows up that very second. Anxiety was me. It consumed me. Elementary school through about seventh grade was living hell for me. Starting with the first day of Kindergarten when they had to tear me off of my mother's leg all the way to the middle of seventh...show more content...
There are more than three million cases in a year. These cases are usually self diagnosed. I find this inaccurate. I've heard people say everyone has anxiety at some point in their life. WRONG. Call me Trump, but that just doesn't seem right. Worrying if you're going to get to work on time is not anxiety. That's not setting your alarm clock for the right time. As phychologytoday.com decribes it, "Anxiety is a normal reaction to stressful situations. but in some cases, it becomes excessive and can cause sufferers to dread everyday situations." Anxiety is not something that shows up in a brain scan. Trust me. They tried it. Anxiety is a broad term used for a label on many other issues that can be going on. For example someone with Anxiety many experience panic attacks, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and depression. No matter what you experience, there's a solution. Medication is the leading source of treatment for those with some type of anxiety. Counseling is a big one too, but that is not effective until you let it be effective.
Today I am a very happy person. I am still taking the same medication and go to the same appointment every couple of months to tell the doctor that I'm happy and I feel I'm taking the right dosage. I still have my bad days. Like any human would. If I don't take my medication, it feels like the world might end tomorrow. I still get nervous about little things that any normal person wouldn't blink at, but I've learned to accept that. I no longer hate myself. I hate my
Definition Essay: What Does Love Mean?
"Love" is a savage topic to cover, especially since it's different when from person to person. My thesis is that love has no definition. There is no one single thing that it is or can be. One person may feel that it's a passionate affection for another person, while another person may think that it means to embrace or kiss another person. It's all about perspective and the type of person. Love is a complicated word, feeling, action, thing that no one can explain. Therefore in this essay, I'll try and explain as many meanings as I can so bear with me! Love has many forms, but the word form is what we're going to be talking about. If you look up the definition love on Google, this is what appears,"An intense feeling of deep affection." However,

Love is a capitalistic sell–all for novels, Top–40 pop songs, summer movies, and greeting cards.

Success Definition Essay
Defining success is quite difficult as success means differently to each and every person. The literal meaning of success would be attaining your aim or goal with great accomplishment. However, my definition of success is accomplishing the goal you have set your mind on without putting it off and strongly continuing it with enthusiasm. Success is also you because success is created through you and accomplish by you. Success has many meaning and perspectives so it is clearly difficult to define it through your own opinion without any controversy. However, not everyone would agree with me but it is better to reach success with a clear and happy mind instead of a stress and tired mind. Accomplishing success is difficult and tiring but it teaches
Definition Essay: What Is A Friend?
What is a Friend? Who do you consider your friends? For me, a friend is someone who makes you laugh, they're nice, you can joke around with this person, and it's very easy to tell them anything because you trust them. If I talk to someone occasionally, and we're nice to each other but we never get into weird and funny conversations that later on leads to inside jokes, I wouldn't consider them a friend. All of the people I consider my friends are people who just bring joy to me. One common experience I have had with all my friends is laughing for a very long time non–stop until our stomachs hurt. For example, once I was skyping with two of my friends, Kim and Cortes. Cortes saw a post on Twitter that said "I hate it when teachers coffin skate...show more content...

They'll look at your classes and see you were a top student for one of them, or look at one of the extracurricular activities you were a part of and see you contributed a lot and were very important and praised by the other members. For example, if you're into sports and you're the star athlete of your team, not only will you win awards from your school and be well–known by nearly every student, you might also get recruited by a college. What this means is the college will ask for you to join, since they want you on their team. If you're a part of a school organization that's also very beneficial. You gain skills that will be very important in the future. You'll build leadership skills and confidence. If you stick with this organization for a very long time during school, that's also a good thing colleges look for and it increases your chances of being
Definition Essay On Greed
What is greed? I think of the word greed and a sense of instability comes to my mind. Instability reminds me of a symbol of lacking stability of maturity around the world. I do not hear the word greed very often however I experience it. People are unaware of being greedy. It has a strong, disgusting, passive meaning to it. Greed represents a tacky, ignoble person who expects to receive everything that has great value.
Greed is known as the desire for money, popularity or fame or even a higher authority of something. Being greedy is trying to succeed happiness and satisfaction for your own doing. Coaches are meant to lift your spirits, motivate you, influence you to be the best and encourage a comeback after a mistake. My coach has not expressed a nice side and lately I have noticed a heightened greediness in him. If you are a part of his life it is about his life, his ego and what he wants. His ego caught up with him and he is self centered towards everyone around him. I am coming back from an injury and my self esteem is very low and he I do not play a lot when I use to be a starter. I use to have high hopes for a comeback, but recently my coach brought me down by telling me that since I didn't play, the team won. He also made players from different teams come to a tournament and spend there money to stay the night, but did not play them a single minute. He does not think of other people, only himself. My teammates are constantly told by him "you will never be as fast as them so stop trying." He is now the most greediest 40 year old I know. However, he does not know he is greedy. I guess to me there is only one definition of greed... the act of being selfish. In the long run, the greedy people because self conscious, angry, frustrated and discontent with life because you are trying the hardest not to lose the wealth that was accumulated over time. Over time the greed takes over and you lose what has real value to your life which are friends and
Definition Of Abortion
Abortion is a widely discussed and argued topic that not many people can agree on it seems like. The dictionary definition is "the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy." My definition would be "ending a potential human life due to careless acts and or other reasons." Many sites will say that no matter the reason, a human fetus should not be "killed" no matter what has happened in order to conceive this child. There are also people who believe that women should be able to have an abortion and everything be fine. No matter what the situation, I believe that women have the right to choose what they do with their bodies and their children in their lives. According to CNN, "states have enacted more than 1,074 laws limiting access to an abortion procedure." By 1880 abortion had...show more content...
Though this is the true definition, pro life supporters believe that "life" begins as soon as conception happens according to ThoughtCo. These two definitions are both similar and different due to the fact that they stand for different things. Pro life supporters believe that as soon as a child is conceived, their life begins. This means that the child doesn't even have to be born to be considered a living thing, but instead conceived. Once this happens, a child is considered to be "murdered" if abortion occurs. The true definition of life states that as soon as a child is born until it dies, it is considered a form of "life." The ThoughtCo also states that "No civilized society permits one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another human without punishment, and abortion is no different." Since the child has no say on whether they want their lives taken or not, abortion shouldn't be allowed or practiced
Goodness Definition Essay
Goodness, as defined by Webster's Dictionary, is "The quality of being good in any of its various senses; excellence; virtue; kindness; benevolence". This means that if you are good, or make good choices you can achieve excellence, virtue, kindness, and benevolence. If everyone had goodness, then we would have a world of no crime, no bullies, and no gangs. This is reason why people should make good decisions in their life. When people make good choices, they have a good feeling inside. When one sees someone drop their wallet, and he or she picks it up and returns it to them, they are grateful, which makes people happy or glad that they made that choice. When one decides to keep that wallet, he or she has just robbed a man (Which is against

There are many ways for honesty to work out positively in our lives, it can show a sense of trust within yourself or others you come in contact with. Honesty is also a big part of our lives in our wider culture by being able to express opinions towards various subjects.
There are many ways where there is honesty in what goes on in our lives, in television, writing, and everyday conversations. It is stated nowhere. Education should be about becoming enlightened to the works of the world. I am not saying becoming a lawyer or a business person is wrong or inimical. What I am saying is being a artist or philosopher is just as advantageous. In fact art and philosophy should be made standard issue in schools. We all need to know how to think for ourselves. This is not an easy thing to accomplish, we would need more money for schools in order to pay for teachers and materials. This would not completely solve the problem however.
We must change the way we think and take control of ourselves. It is essential that we not be lead blindly. It is time that we hold people accountable for their actions. No longer are we be to lead by people just because they belong to a political party that we belong to. Instead we must be independent in our thoughts. Most importantly education should be a tool not a crutch.
Education is defined in many ways, however, they all mean the same thing.
To be formed into the mold of a productive worker. What does this do for the world? Nothing, it creates another mindless drone to carry out the work of its master. The people in power do not want this to change because it serves their purposes. We must change or over time we will lose our ability to think for ourselves. Then we are truly "dammed" to subservience. What type of life could that ever be? A life in which we could not
